Is it REALLY worth getting your car miltekked. Ive got a V5 and although I reallly enjoyed the sound in rfsteels V5, I feel it wont perform as well in my "Standard" V5. People have said it doesnt sound much more than the standard zorst ... what do you people reckon ?

I would only get a Milltek again if it was fitted AT milltek near nottingham. Read my recent topic called "Dodgy milltek fitting"

I've got no centre silencer, so you do hear mine! Its not chav/saxo boy loud though. Its also cheaper for the system with no middle silencer. You can have a listen if you come to no-rice tomorrow, i'll definitely be there!

I was recently sat in a mates Mk3 VR6 and IMO his jetex exhaust actually sounded nicer than my milltek!

I have just the catback (at present) and at tickover it definitely sounds a bit deeper and more purposeful and the same all the way through the rev range.. it sounds great whilst downshifting too [:D] There's a slight increase in power and seems to free the engine a little. I just can't wait til I get the downpipe and cat now [:)]

No exhaust is gonna give huge gains nowadays... manufacturers have already sapped as much power out of them to alow for tighter imissions etc... looks and sounds yes but the days of slapping a 4 branch manifold and system on your supermirafiori or Mexico and getting good gains are long gone...

Faisal not surprised the vr sounded better than your 1.8t really imo not much of a contest and I have a 1.8t

Haha, obviously the VR6 engine sounds a LOT better than a 1.8T....but I meant that his jetex exhaust sounded better than my milltek. It had a very nice tone and no booming.

I had a Milltek fitted to my previous GTI and will be getting another at some stage for my R32. Got my dad to fit it at his garage (he's been in the tyre & exhaust business for 40+ years) and in his words it was possibly the highest quality exhaust he'd ever seen and was a dream to fit. I have heard some horror stories of fitting them but it does make me wonder about the people fitting them cos mine went on a breeze......

Personally, I think for noise, Milltek have the right balance. Not chav loud, but loud enough so that it makes a difference. IIRC, they also make sure none of their exhausts drone inside the cabin (like a std R32). Oh, and the exhausts take time to "bed in". The cat-back on my GTI took a good 2000 miles or so and got fruitier and fruitier.

Hell, they make systems for Rolls-Royce, so they can't be that crap surely?

For me, it was worth it.

I had initial fitting problems, but they got sorted.

I've been enjoying the sound problem free, for the last 4 years. As above - sounds 'just right'

Mild performance increase but no regrets here - money well spent...

the end
