Hi guys. I need to order a pair of front lower wishbones with bushes as my bushes are shot. I gathered that it would be cheaper to ask the garage to fit the new wishbones instead of having to pay labour for them to be removed and repressed etc.

VW quoted me £63.80 inc Vat each.... yet i noticed AVScarparts & GSF have them for around £35 inc Vat each.

From experience is it best for me to get the genuine VW ones or the supplied oem ones from AVS or GSF? I appreciate the main difference will be the bushes in this instance. Is there much difference here?

Should i opt for £120+ from VW or £65 from AVS or GSF?

Eitherway, regarding new bolts & nuts am i right in thinking that only the following need to be replaced for the front wishbones?.... as when i spoke to VW they werent sure if the other fastenings to the hub ball joint needed to be replaced? Also is there no nut for the front bush bolt?

Front wishbone Rear bush:

N 102 622 01 bolt x2

N 015 081 4 nut x2

Front wishbone Front bush:

N904 840 03 bolt x2

IIRC to got a pair of front wishbones with all the bushes and new balljoints for £50 off ebay.

Ordered some TT rear bushes from VW, wnet to pick them up and asked if they knew anyone local who could fit the new bushes. Parts chap asked the bloke in the workshop, he said leave them with him and come back in a couple of hours. The nice man had changed the bushes over for me FREE OF CHARGE !!

As for the nuts & bolts, i'm sure thats been covered in the thread about TT bushes in the rear of the wishbone.

I think its because the term OEM is used so commonly now regarding keeping mods etc as if it came of the "production line" like it.

- Genuine / OE are Volkswagen

- OEM are other companys which make parts to Volkswagen spec standards.

- Aftermarket parts - Replicas which arent OE or OEM

I think ive got this right

Cheers mate. I had considered doing that myself ... but its more cost effective for me to just replace the current shot ones with a new pair and use the supplied bushes. Im sure the TT bushes are better though but im happy with the ride comfort of the standard bushes.
