Are you sure it is africa not India?

Looks quite interesting though, not too sure if the pictures are really worth something.

Yeah some of those drawings look like India, or certainly that region anyway.

Excellent find though, would be something to keep hold of for a long time to come.

I recently found my Grandpa's old WWW II plane spotters book, he was a Lancaster Bomber pilot and used the book to spot enemy aircraft. Funny thing is, its got 'DO NOT TAKE IN THE AIR' plastered all over it - can only presume it was so the 'enemy' didn't get hold of it, should he of crashed etc. (which he never did!)

Small world my grandmas brother (guess that would make him great uncle?) was a lancaster bomber pilot, unfortunately he was shot down and killed during the war

Yup there are signatures on a few of the paintings but not on all of them......

Most amazing things in the album are the intricate black paper cuttings laid down in tracing paper jackets/folders....Someone has cuts those out, the pictures really dont do them justice or give the true scale of how small and intricate the cuttings are. They are tiny and would have taken ages to do. They are very very fragile

What a fantastic find! I'm loving the black cut out pics, never seen anything like those! [:D]

Also worthwhile getting them looked at by an antiques specialist, you may need to get them insured...

Have you tried googling the artist's name (if legible) failing that, have a look on the old records and see who owned the house around that era - might give you a clue as to who they're by??

what do you think this signature is?? G.F.J or E.F.J??
Also the drawings/paintings of the countryside have a few captions on them mentioning the picture is of Weald Kent

Those pictures being cut from the paper Ive seen before on the Antiques Roadshow - it was a really popular method of drawing in the early victorian era and I can for the life of me think whats it called - if I remember rightly, quite collectable.

If I was you, Id definately do a bit of detective work on them - even if they are not worth alot it would be great to find out the background if your could.

Cant find the artist..... spent alot of time this weekend searching on the net.

Ive emailed a local antiques dealer who is also on the radio/tv (does something similar to antiques roadshow).

Hopefully he may be able to shed some light on them.......
