Yes. It is horrible and the header pics are too large, cumbersome and slow down page loading. Why oh Why change it again??

It's not slow at all. What connection speed are you on?
56k dial-up modem although at the time I was using my bluetooth modem and bluetooth usb dongle but things seem somwhat quicker now I've reverted to direct wire connection to the telephone socket.

What's dial-up [:p]

Yeah, it will be slowish on dial-up, doubt you'll find many sites that aren't
Does this mean that those of us with no access to broadband are to be no longer catered for?

Before yesterdays update the forum was reasonably fast, now I spend most of my time watching "Loading %" while the heading picture slowly loads. I visit several forum sites daily and none are as slow as this is now.

i am not to keen on the graphics at the top of the page either, as i'm
on a dialup. it takes about 10-15secs before the page displays enough
for me to scroll - and thats on firefox.

on ie6, it takes about 30sec for an entire page to download..

It's going to be customisable, theres a whole 2 page thread on it in the active topics list at the moment, so you will have moe control over how you view it, in effect, you will be able to have the screen wider, but for users running 800x600, if it was any wider than it is now, they would have to scroll from left to right on every single page!

You'll find a lot of sites are actually this size.

Much prefer it like it was. This is very messy to read and doesn't make best use of the screen. And, yes - it is taking longer to load pages. This does not seem like progress to me. Personally, I still miss the old set up, which ran the topics much better. Active Topics is now not a list of the threads which have changed since you last logged on, but simply all threads from the most recently answered down. Not the same, and not so easy to track topics. We seem to have lost such a lot, just to gain speed of loading.

Before you start, I am not criticising you and the other guys David, I know you do a lot of work to keep things going, but the "old" software did have a lot of great features which made using it far simpler than now. Oh, and I hate those chav smilies, they're crap.

Use Firefox and block the top picture with its inbuilt Adblocker.

It works perfectly.
GaryM, can you tell me how you blocked it?, I'm using Firefox 1.0.3 and
have tried blocking images from the options menu with no success, its
blocked all the images apart from the offending picture at the top.

I
can't find an Adblocker option, have I missed something?
