I was just adding my MSN address to my profile when noticed two things. Firstly, I have finally gone past the 500 mark and I am now a 'Racing Mk4'er' and secondly, guys like Tabs, Powerhouse and Golfturbo have been members since 9th Jan 2002. Does that mean on Thursday is the forum's 1st birthday? ...R we having a party? [^]

I'd noticed this and was going to post it on the day, unless somebody else did. Another milestone. What was it like, with only a few of you on Tabs? And no petrol/diesel rows to spice things up! Must have been great to watch your baby grow into the monster it has become!

V. quiet I can tell you Roger - it was like a ghost town, probably about 1 post per day, and 1 new member every couple of days.

I remember just spending hours racking my head for topic's to post to get members motivated - lol it was always the same users who replied tho! Idsco, Golfturbo and powerhorse....

Its fun to look back tho, would never have imagined it looking like the way it is now, the ammount of users we have and great atmosphere we have.

I think its time for a story from TABS. C'mon give us the history of the forum, who started it, why, when etc, I've been here about 6months but still dont really know who/why started it. It'd be good for the spirit of the forum, and good for newbie's too.

You know you want too ....

Agree with all the above. Nice one Tabs and co.

One thing I have noticed is how often the website crops up when looking for things in Google. The other day I searched for this "cleaner clay" stuff and the 4th search result was us here! As Google is based on the number of hits a site gets, that just shows how busy this site now is!

Well - its a long storey.........

have you got an hour or so to read the length of post it would take....

Yes / No - [8D]

Well started ages ago when i picked up my Golf 1.8T back in March 1999 - i met a chap called 'Rod' (he doesn't post) he had a mk4 turbo with RSD Oettinger 230 bhp conv...

me and him got talking and through RSD and me setting up a website www.whoneedsviagra.com i have a email conversatoin going on with about 5 people - it then spread to about 25 - anyway after meeting Gary Handa and Shandy Bashin to name a few we got a Yahoo group going which quickley built up....

I decided to but a forum on my website along with the members gallery....all was going well until the name got taken away from me and poached by someone in China i think....

Anyway Tabs took over the forum and put it under a new name and from then on in ( a year ago) he has built it up to something incredible.....

I sold the car back in Jan 2002 - and lost interest and touch with the board...

I have started the same thing twice more with www.e46coupe.co.uk - not updated anymore as i sold that car too....

now running with www.boxa.net which is doing really good - god knows what will happen if i sell that car!!! HAHAH[:p]

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY

to see some old pictures of the original days have a look at www.eurodubs.com

I would like to say happy 1st birthday to the forum. The site is one of the best places to talk and meet up with people. Everybody has done a great job. It has grown alot since the first post but i think it is a very well repected site and notice that people dont abuse it and respect opioins from fellow members.

IT ROCKS.

Well, I'm enjoying my new home here in the Mkiv site.. I took me a while to stop going on the Scoobynet which I still have the occasional visit to the darkside[xx(].

I did notice that this board is'nt as fast in responding to posts, although I think this is a postive thing as on the Scoobynet there were a lot of Wannabe's and non-Scooby owners which caused havic sometimes. The 'For Sale' section was excellent for those bargain's and the majority of the true Scooby owners were helpful and genuine.

When the time came to sell the car they all wanted it for well less than I sold it for and what it was worth. I did sell it in the end to a dealer for a £1000 less than I wanted although still more than I was offered on the Scoobynet. Not one call from my Autotrader adverts (only after I sold the blooming car!)

I won't have as much money to spend on my GT TDI 110 as I did on the Scoob as my Girlfreind and I are saving for a house. So we should be able to get one in the next 2-3 years depending on the rate of increase the houses go up to.

I have changed the standard 15" alloy wheels to 16" Five spoke Audi TT one's which makes it a bit more different than others. I got a set of headlamp protectors from my Brother for Christmas (will save me £200 per headlamp). I've changed the badges on the bootlid to read GT TDI the day after I bought the car. Apologies to anyone if I'm offending them by putting badges on[^] to make it something it is'nt. At the end of the day it's only a badges with red stickers on. I finally got my V5 documentation back from the DVLA for the Golf and put my Private plate on the car on Monday. I was given the no. plate off my Girlfreind Christmas 2001. It is R12 KYD which is the closest I could get to RICKY D.

I've also got plans to put my sound system in the car which has been sitting around the house for nearly two years[:I] I did by a new MiniDisc player and CD Autochanger at the Motoshow in November before I even bought the car...That R32 was fab[8)][8)]. The Girlfreind even liked it!! Maybe in three years or so she'll let me have one. I've been digging at her for a Audi TT but a think a Golf TDI 150 chipped to 190 would be better[:)][:)]

So if you see me around just give me a wave[;)]

Cheers
