Do they autmatically close when you lock the car, or are they triggered manually?

Its just I havn't seen any button for them on the dash.

I haven't got automatic folding mirrors but I think the control is included in the same one for adjusting mirrors etc. it is just that it has another position 180 degrees opposite the 'heating' position

Am I reading this right? The golf has electric folding door mirrors? If they do is it a standard feature or extra?

radox

Do you know you can close and open you windows with your key remote?

No they don't. It is available as an optional extra included with one of VW's rather confusing optional extra 'packs'.

Answering your query myself. I know that the windows and indeed my sunroof can be closed by using either the remote or the key in the driver's lock.

I think that using the remote one has to hold the close button down for about 3 seconds but I can't imagine that this does much for conserving battery life of the remote control. Useful, though if one has inadvertantly left the sunroof open and need to close it without gettin back into the car again.

Talking of door mirrors. Anyone any clue about how to tell if you have the auto dimming door mirrors as well as the internal mirror? They are available as seperate option packs, mine appear to be auto dimming but I cannot be 100% sure.

If I remember rightly, when I bought mine the 2 decent luxery packs were as follows.

Both had dimming rearview, coming home and leaving lights, folding and heated mirrors, dusk and rain sensor. The difference being is that one has dimming side mirrors and the other has additional footwell lighting. I chose the latter (#1 I think) as it was about ?100 cheaper and I didnt think dimming sides were vital (when I could put the money towards fogs.)

Hope this helps - I am also going to ask stealer if they can code the mirrors to autofunction with the ignition.

When you say 'close', do you mean fold? If so there is a setting on the mirror adjustment knob at 12 o clock - turn the dial to this setting and the mirrors will fold.

And if it's the same as the manual folding method then they don't fold in very much do they??

Stupid me ordered this option, has worked well on other cars. Well, on the Golf it narrows the car by 1" or so. You actually have to look twice to realize that they've been folded [}:)]
