Yes, as it's substantial cost and requires other mods to engine mapping etc I would suggest you don't do it for cosmetic reasons, but focus on the performance benefits.

At the risk of sounding facetious, if it's just the 'look' you're after then why not get an old AC radiator and ty-wrap that inside the bumper aperture....

Firstly, have a good look at the topic below. Foxy and I spent time talking to Allard at the Autosport Show and were very impressed. Their FMIC will fit your car, although unless you change the front bumper or grilles it will be completely stealthy. It will help the performance, and it is designed to work in conjunction with the other parts of their tuning program for best results.

no i do want the performance gain when i get it re-maped with bigger injectors ect

but what i am asking is can i do this jusnow without the re-map?

Go for it then, AFAIK if you do it without the re-map then the boost actually drops due to the extra pipework so you'd have less power and possibly other running problems until you'd got the mapping/injectors done.

It'd be more economical to collect all the parts and have the whole lot done at once otherwise you'd have to check the mapping after each stage.

Richard you wont loose boost ...... There may be a pressure drop if the pipework and new core create extra volume to pressurize. But this means that the turbo will have to work harder to produce the requested boost... its not a drop you will 'feel'.

I have done it on my 1.8T and did a custom fit, i havnt had it mapped to the FMIC or the ko3S yet and i have no running problems at all. The IC means much lower intake temps on spirited runs and the power holds much longer. As my old Ic was a bit shady when i took it off i think it was holding back performance, so the new FMIC item does seem to have made a slight difference too. If you guys are upgrading i would go for a core with alloy end tanks as a posed to the plastic ones on the factory 150pd's.
