The key for my car is: Part no. HLO 1JO959 753 N Frequency 434MHz.

If I buy a key from somewhere that is: Part no. HL0 1J0 959 753 AG Frequency 434 Mhz

Will I be able to have it coded to match my original key and work on my car? The frequency is the same but the part number ends slightly differently, indicating that the key is used on a slightly newer car (1 Year) Anyone tried this?

On a different note, my girlfriend has a spare remote that: Is for her car, obviously has the correct blade, will start the car so the immobiliser code must be correct, but she cant unlock the car remotely. Its not the battery in the fob coz weve tried changing it.

Can I recode the remote end if its lost its code? using vag-com or I have heard you can do it by putting the key in the lock and pushing a sequence of buttons?

Also her key that does work has a very weak signal, you have to be right by the car to unlock it. Why could this be?

Any info much appreciated

First off "HLO" isn't part of the part number

1J0 959 753 N was used on Golfs/Boras from 98-00, 1J0 959 753 AG is used on Golfs/Boras/Polos/Transporters from 02-present

Some keys have different types of transponders so it might work but then again it might not, only way off telling is to give it a try.

If you changed the battery & its still not working then it might need recoded, if that doesnt work then it will need a new remote

1J0 959 753 N seems to be only 2000 models

1J0 959 753 A (433 Mhz) was pre-2000

Called into VW today & got a new blade cut. ?7 all in which I though was decent enough. At least I can get into the car now in an emergency.

They were'nt sure about coding a slightly newer key than mine & said the only way to find out is to try it which is fair enough.

Hey guys, came upon this thread as im in the middle of trying to get a new keyfob for my car, Mine is a 2001/Y Golf, and the key is

1J0 959 753 N - 433Mhz? I take it by this that any 434MHz key wouldn't work? even though it had the same part number? (i.e. 1J0 959 753 N 434MHz key?)

Cheers..

Cool, I take it that's a 433MHz one? how much to get this coded and cut?
That part number is just for the remote, the key part is seperate.

Post or PM me your car details (reg or chassis number) & i will get a complete price for you, key, remote & codeing.

Not according to ETKA
Must have had two parts running at the same time then, my 99 model is 1J0 959 753 A

What does ETKA say about the 1J0 959 753 A ?
Passat 97-00 & Golf/Bora 98-01

My August 1998 key doesn't have a p/n on it . It does say 433mhz tho. It's a non flip key type, unfortunately ! [:(] Could I buy a flip key and get it coded to work ?

On the side it reads:

CE - Hella

730 955-00

433 MHZ 5FA 007 680

What does that lot mean ? Apart from the hella, the ce and the 433 MHZ bit ! [:p]

seen a lot of quotes about EKTA on this thread - does it give a definative list of key part #'s used on cars, based on chassis #?

I have got the "frankenstien" key - http://www.uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/634151.aspx - marked 434mhz, but so far 6 keys have failed to code up to the car, even at the stealers! I have now resorted to buying 433 mhz keys from ebay.

Getting a bit desperate to have a fully working spare, so any help much appreciated [:)]
