Hiya,

the time has come when I can finally lower my car!

Firstly, how low can I go without getting driveshaft troubles?

I would like to lower it between 45 and 50mm. I don't think 30 is enough of a difference.

Eibach do springs which lower the car 45-50mm. Could these be used with my existing dampers?

I am actually thinking of getting an Eibach kit with springs and dampers. Is there an Eibach kit with springs and dampers that lowers the car 50mm? How much is this?

How much can I expect to pay for fitting of springs and dampers? Is it about ?120 at awesome gti?

Cheers,

Rye

I would be tempted by the FK Hi Tec kit if I were you Mark. ?250 for matched springs and dampers, supplied by R1GTI on the forum....will lower it to the level you want and the bonus is the shocks and springs will be matched

hmm i might be doing this soon.how much would installation of this be?

I think it is about ?120 to fit the suspension.

R1GTI, do you still supply the FK Hi Tec Kit? Does this lower the car by approx 50mm? Will they be ok with a 1.6? I heard the engine size matters due to the different weights of engines.

Hmmmmm Why can no one help me on this? I have money burning a hole in my pocket! [:O]

Anyway I have found this http://www.performancedriven.co.uk/shop.product.asp?CatID=48

is that the Kit you were talking about Mike? If I supplied the parts then Awesome or any other specialists could fit them?

Has ANYONE experienced driveshaft issues lowering 50mm? This is really important! Come on guys.. please help...

Anyone know the weight on the front axle of a 1.6 Golf? Will that be in the manual?

Thanks,

Rye

Give Performance Driven a call Mark, they should confirm the axle weights for you. But I would hazard a guess and say you need the kit listed for axle weight up to 960kg....

As for the Driveshaft issue, you will run into this so it could be worth pricing up an ARB to compliment your suspension.

Cheers tabs. You think my driveshafts will definitley start rubbing on the ARBs? If so, how low can you go before this starts to be a problem? I don't really want to be paying loads and loads of money. At first I was just gonna get springs, then I decided dampers would be good too. So basically I want to go as low as possible without getting any driveshaft issues.

GreenBeast, how low did u go with your 1.6?

hi m8,

I've got the FK High Tech sports suspension kit (What a mouthful![:O]) on my golf tdi.

I bought it frm perfomance driven, great service when i finally got it! Took about 1-2 months before i received it, i think. It wasn't their fault, I think there was a problem with FK in germany.

Anyway I think its a sweet kit, might be a bit of a hard ride for some, but I think its perfect, totally transformed the handling. Great cos it comes with matching shocks as well, my stock ones were well past it!

I have the 35/40mm kit, will try and post some pics up soon...

Cheers matey. I'd appreciate seeing some pics as I might get the 35/40mm kit to be sure I don't get any driveshaft issues. Is there much of a gap between the wheel and wheel arch? I want to get rid of the gaps almost completely. Is it true that the rear shocks are adjustable? That's what it says on their site.

I think the ride heights just right imo.

Don't think the rear shocks are adjustable, I'm sure my m8 would of said something when fitting it.
