I bought an armrest of eBay from a saller called MrRabbity. Came with zero instructions at all, and to be honest, not sure the nuts supplied are correct either.

Anyhow, I apparently also need VW part: 1J0711354V - this seems to be an adaptor of some soft at about ?2.50. Does anyone have any info on this part at all?

Also, the nuts/bolts don't fit perfectly into the armrest pillar, suggesting it may wobble like hell once fitted.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get these to fit better?

Cheers

So does anyone know what part numbers the armrest fitting kit comprises of? Or pictures if possible?

Cheers

See, I look at that picture of the official kit, then of what I have. Spot the dfference? There's only 1 difference...

Everything!

I am gonna have to order me this kit at the weekend, as no joy :(

And to add insult to injury, the seller left my girlfriend bad feedback!

OK, it's ?29.30 inc VAT, but local stealer has none.  I am so annoyed, as this part SHOULD be what the seller ships!

Guy seems a bit of a t*sser. But still, onwards... Picking up the kit tomorrow.

Just looked under bonnet (while filling up on washing fluid) and found bigger problems. The 1.4 badge has melted, pipe at front of engine is diconnected and oil all round refill area. Nice!

I bought the same armrest from Mr Rabbity, and finally fitted it today
after I had to order a proper VW bracket. The di-cast rubbish he
provided simply broke due to poor build quality. He did send me
instructions, not that they were very helpful! I also found that the
holes didnt seem to line up - but he provided screws etc and now its on
securely. hope this helps.

Yeah he provides a kit, but it's useless. To state that "all fittings are including" (which he does) is not truebecause you either need:
1) Nut extender (sounds painful)
2) Better fitting bracket

Am gonna get my kit today hopefully, and fit it tonight.

Right - I finally got it fitted using a mixture of the supplied fitting kit and a purchased VW one - after much cussing.

Final impressions: Not worth the time or money. It get's in the way, it squeaks a bit and overall just doesn't impress.

I've seen the actual VW ones, and if anyone wants an armrest, go to a scrappy and find one!

And now an update:  If you put any pressure on the armrest (like a little more than an arm resting on it) the ratchet fails (snaps?) and it falls limp!  Nice!
