Feels like a complete idiot!!!

So was out last night, went to go pick my mate up from work with the gf, got to her work place and come onto the main road to go home and chill, police have started to follow me in a meat wagon,

i thought nothing of it at the time, then iv turned off to go down the bypass and the blue and twos have come on......iv pulled over and police have done the usual checks on the car, officers asked me if i had been drinking, i reply i had a pint later on in the day, so (section 5 i think he said it was under) he come back over and iv done a breatherliser and its come back 0 =)

Then he gets a call back saying that the car has runout of mot since june, which i was very shocked about, iv never missed mot, or road tax before!!! have been given a producer to prove i have an mot,

Turns out iv missed my mot and been driving about with out one for 6 months, i feel like a complete idiot at this moment in time, the cars in the garage as we speak getting an mot, im just a lil unsure of what punishment im going to receive when i go back down to the police station!!!!!

has anyone else been in the same situation or could shed some light?

unlucky mate, i've driven for a month with no MOT. it's an easy mistake to make. not sure on the punishment though

i think you can get three points and 60 quid fine but i think its just how much of an arse the copper if feelin at that moment. just plead againest it but its a difficult one because how many people who know they have no mot will say i thought i had, even though you did not actually know.

Happened to me once before, years ago. I got the car mot'd then took the paperwork to my local LAPD. I handed over the paperwork and producer, then said nothing. PC Plod went about his duty, returned my paperwork and bid me a good day...result! I'm not saying the desk civvy you'll see will be as neglegent however, give it a go. If he pulls you up then plead ignorance and throw yourself at his mercy with loads of apologies!

It's Christmas.....you never know!

No points just a 60 quid fine, But if you explain when producing your documents they should let you off, esp if you've gone out the next day and got one done.

I wouldn't try to blag it though as they are not stupid.

MOT's mean shit anyway.

Right little update, got call saying your cars to low to get on the ramps, so iv been round there with the alloys off in the snow trying to get my collies to go up, they seem to not be moving, they been sprayed with alot of wd40, (weitecs btw) and still wont budge....any ideas?

looks like me and the boys tomorrow are going to have a winter session in the cold, parently i need atleast a 2" raise before it will get on the ramps, im thinking a few scene points for me

Get the car back in on monday, then striaght down the the old bill station!!!!

always the way when uv had a road trip booked for tonight!!

So my mot is sorted now, passed striaght away, and was more than happy i didnt have an ainti roll bar on, iv been to the old bill station and they were more than helpfull (for the first time in my life) no charge no bills no points,

roll on christmas and nye hope everyone has a good time!!!!

This exact thing happened to me a few years back. Got and MOT done the next day, went to the PlodShop to produce my documents and they sent me on my way with no fine or points.

It would be nice to have a reminder system on MOT's like Tax, should be easy to set up now its all computerised. Saying that it would double the amount of paperwork for DVLA.

I notice they send you a road tax reminder to make sure they get there money but no MOT reminder as they dont get any thing out of you

Our garage sends us reminders saying when our MOT is due, but I guess thats just because we are regulars there.

Or stick the sticker on your windscreen from your MOT report which tells you when its due...
