Almost coming up to a year of GTI ownership now, and whilst the thrill of the car was fantastic at first, as usual with me, im getting bored.
Bored of being out handled by sheds, tired of getting caught out at low revs, and just not feeling that the car is 'special' anymore.
So, before prices start plummeting... im wondering whether I should dump the Golf and go for something which will give me driving thrills out of the box.
Yes, i could spend money on the suspension, yes i could get a remap.... but i dont really want to. I've slowly realised that i want a car that in standard form will offer what i want..... quick, handles well, looks nice, and is well built/reliable. I dont want the reliability hassle of suspension changes and remaps, nor do i want the insurance hikes and hassle should the worst happen....
So what do i go for? An S3 is heading the pack big time at present.... i like this engine, if it just spooled up a big quicker and had more oomph once it got there, i'd love it. I want that 4wd... i want that look.... it just seems like the car 'for me' if you like.
I'd consider a CupraR, but they are too in your face for where i live... and there isnt much else i'd think about to be honest.
What does everyone else think?
