I picked my car up today after having a new rear axle mounted as the last one was damaged and the nearside rear wheel was out of line.

Anyway in short i had adjusted the tracking so even with knackered axle it still went in a straight line with straight wheel, one axle was fine this meant wheel was way out. I've scanned the car with a cheap scanner and it says "steering angle"

if i redo the tracking should i be able to shift the code of does it require more work than this?

The steering angle sensor can cause a fault which may or may not clear with a code reader.

If it's anything to do with intermittant communications it should clear with any code reader.

If its got a code for mechanical fault, it's normally a broken sensor or wiring.

If its lost its calbration then no basic code reader will clear it. VCDS can calibrate the sterring wheel angle.
