I'd sack your mechanic for changing the WRONG sensor, the clue is in the words !

Read "MAP" sensor !

Hi mate what kind of car have you got. I have a TDI 130 and I have been experiencing similar symptoms to you.

 

I've got a GT TDI, originally 115 bhp, engine code AJM.

By the sounds of it the the MAP sensor is behind the drivers headlight, see http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/329393.aspx I am gonna give this a try, see what happens, will let you know.

 

yes it is located just on the side/top of the intercooler, very fiddly to get to, i think the best route of approach would be whip the bumper and headlight off so you can get some decent access to it because the screws on mine were badly corroded and won't stand for much before they round off.

open/short to pos could be as simple as it being unplugged(somehow) or a wire been broken.

or if they are fine then it looks like u will need a new MAP sensor.

I'm taking my car to Big Boys Toys tomorrow to get a service I will get them to put it on vagcom and see whats going on.

hi there had the same problem a couple of months ago.I replaced the sensor and it transformed the car. cost less than ?40 from stealers.mine was held in by only 2 screws. HTH

Did you do it yourself? Did you remove the headlight, windscreen fluid bottle and bumper?

I cant find the MAP on the GSF/Eurocarparts site, will try calling them tomorrow. As mines still at the mechanics gonna call him to take a look at it tomorrow, he replaced a tyre/tracking rod & cv joint for me last week, think he may have loosened something at the time....

 

Hi there I changed it myself as on the 150 tdi its on the pipe that goes across the front of the engine,and took all of 2 minutes tops. sorry not very familiar with your set up

I had the MAP sensor replaced, and is running much better - seems to be much more responsive than before, no more limp mode!!

Had the MAF sensor done at the same time, although this probably wasn't required, paid about 40 quid for the MAP, 69 for MAF from Allparts.

Thanks for your help guys - otherwise the mechanic was about to start taking the turbo apart!

so does anyone know where the manifold temp sensor is? is it the same thing or are they connected?

i have both these faults plus the 17965-charge pressure controlositive deviation fault.

if its a positive deviation does that mean overboosting is causing my limp mode? is this more related to the N75 valve?

what car/engine do you have mate?

 

mk4 gttdi 130ps, already stripped the turbo down and de-coked it so the VNT's are free, has a boost leak from the side mount by the look of it but thats now replaced with a front mount intercooler.
