Well after a fantastic drive home last night down the M1 about 11:30, no traffic other than a few lorries on the inside lane and all that open road to enjoy all the torque of my PD130 - I can honestly say I haven't smiled that much since I drove it off the VW forecourt.

[^]from ear-to-ear [^] pulling like a train - amazed how the car shifts from 60-100 in seconds. I was so impressed until I arrived back into my home town where a rude boy in this 1.6 Civic with 6" tail pipe was giving all the signs of wanting a we race ... so having enjoyed all the torque and knowing the TDI was warmed up and pulling greater than usual I decided to take the bate [:I] I was soon crying my way home after the civic did have the better hand and even up hill before taking on a round about at about 40-50mph - those things sure handle well.

Fair play to the Civic 1 -0

Hopefully would have been a different out come had it been on the motor way and not though town[:p]

I had a play with a Honda Civic CRX VTI last night. It was faster than i had anticipated, set off from a round about and he pulled away from me, when i went to full throttle i was staying even but couldn't close on him. Then he changed from 2nd to 3rd and had had flames coming from his exhaust. At that point i eased off and dropped back. Further down the road I saw on his dash some neon blue gauge... NOS? Turbo? any ideas?

anyway.. B5CRX stay well clear [;)]

It will have been an APEXI VTEC controller gives a few bhp and look really cool, I fitted one to my stepdad's VTI when he had one, exhaust and CAI are also effective on these. Main thing on the CRX is weight or more to the point lack of it. Think they're in the region of 800kgs.

Lol the wonderful VTi [:D]

I have had 2 1.6 VTi's and they have the same 158bhp 1600cc engine from 1992 to 2000.

They are light and can accomplish 0-60 in 7-8secs and a top speed in excess of 130mph.

Nobody can believe how powerful and quick they are. Only snag is lack of torque.

I used to race loads of stuff at the lights and have stuffed several GTi's, TDi's etc in my time. Mt standard VTi ran 15.2 secs at Crail on the 1/4 mile and was faster than one guys new style type r although if it had been a 1/2 mile run it would have been him in front.

Likely to be a VTEC controller. You dont mess with modded Hondas! [:D]

A mate of mine happens to own 'the fastest' 1.6 Civic, apparently it's the fastest 1.6 n/a engine in the country. Ur talking about 5 secs 0-60 in a 1.6 engine . . . [:D][:D][:O][:O]

(Jus read that back to myself and it really sounds like an I sound way too anal [!])

As posted before I had the CRX Vtec, which has 150 bhp not 160 bhp as most people state, as the B16A engine came in to rarities, the first development with VTEC in small writing on the block, and then changed to have VTEC in big writing with the 160bhp. also it will have a engine code of B16A1 etc...

Anyway the rex did 0-60 in 7.1 secs and a top speed of 141mph... no wonder it killed the golf.

My mates got the same model as I had, and he has put a powerflow system on, and he got rolling road of 173bhp? Standard enough 1.6 you can't complain can you?

Sorry folks - been abit tied up lately with buying a house with the misses....a forgot I made that post

After he nailed me I chased him down to tesco's. Had to find out what engine it was - he said the 1.6 but I'm sure he said it was only 120bhp - which only made me feel worse [:(] and apart from alloys - baked bean can - air filter and a few more little bits it was standard[?] and he had his girlfirend in the passenger seat -

I really must be a crap driver (hopefully not) or still not used to the gear change hitting turbo lag everytime?

What is the best rpm to change at when wanting to maintain pace[?]
