on the switch inside the door for moving the mirrors if you turn it to face the front of the car it has the option to fold them in what model was this on or was it just an option
I have this on my car, it was already on there when i bought it! Wasnt sure wat it was until i looked it up in the manual, but unfortunately it doesnt work, it was the first thing to not work, couldnt be asked to sort it out then, but will do soon!
sdesailly Your car will only have the switch fitted and nothing else like the window winder motors or mirror assemblies that are required I have a GT TDI that is fitted with only the switch its only a different type of miror switch perhaps the factory was in short supply of the correct switches and fitted the slightly different one. The good side of this is that if you ever want to add the feature it will only cost you about ?460 as you won't need to buy the switch
Out in Japan folding wing mirrors are a must for the tight gaps and parking bays. Saw a MKIV out here which had both mirrors folded, so it must be an option over here, and their right hand drive.
I didn't get the chance to have a nosey at the mirror switch of the MKIV over here, but will with the next one I see.
Walking back from the office this evening, I saw 2 MK4 golfs and 1 estate all with both mirrors folded in, I tried have a good look round one of them, but just couldn't see any other buttons on the drivers door.
It's to much of a coincidence for 3 MK4 drivers to always get out the car and push the mirrors in.
I will make it my mission this weekend to find the local VW dealer to investigate further, and hopefully be able to report back with photo's, videos, part numbers and prices.

P.S Just found this on the Awesone GTI site - AutoWindow Reflex model.
