EGR removal, Resistor to keep EML off?

Morning guys,

Going to be removing the EGR & Cooler from my 2.0BKD as im losing coolant. Going to donthis before looking into cylinder head etc.

I cant really afford to Map the car twice so ideally would like to leave the map until ive carried out all the planned mods.

So i recall reading somewhere that on the Mk4 you could install a resistor into the plug for the EGR to prevent the engine management light coming on.. is this still the case for the Mk5?

If so, any ideas what rating of resistor i will need?

Just as a temporary fix!

As always, Cheers guys, any help much appreciated.

You could leave it plugged, but put blanking plates so the egr would still operate, but it wouldn't do anything, shouldn't throw a code. I guess, I didn't try on a mk5, I'm 80% sure it won't show a code. Or other way would be to plug the vacuum line to the egr. About 45% on that one.

He said he needs to remove it and the cooler to remove a leak not just to get rid of the egr. I would have it removed via software if its possible.
Hi mate, eventually the end game will be to have it removed via software but need a temp fix so i don't have to map twice once further mods have been carried out.

Just being tight really

It's exhaust manifold, other one should go on egr itself if it's not changed to a straight pipe (which deletes asv too). You can probably get away with one, but better to put them both.
If you are very skint use can of beer/coke/whatever beverage folded. That way everything stays in place, very temporary.
