After having a problem getting the driver shut, (seems to be a common problem) i was getting slightly anoyed and pulled at the handle to hard and snapped the plastic braket that holds the switch surround on.

I've never seen that part as a seperate item, but the beauty of owning a mk.4 is that the scrap yards are all overflowing with the damn things,so lots of cheap spares for years to come[<)].

Chris.
It is part of the door card, so you could source one or glue it back on. I've seen a few of these broken on many cars, but the strength of the pull is still quite significant in the plastic handle piece removed in the picture.

Beyond that you could source the centre part of the door card with the handle in it (the bit which is missing from here) :

Luckily the switch pannel doesn't rely on just that plastic bar, so now the door has decided to close without any messin around or slamming, it's not an issue, I might have a bash at fixing it or making something out of alloy.

I know what your saying chris about the scrappys, but it doesn't work like that where i live, it's about 100 miles to the nearest one. i have a m8 in aberdeen tho who is due up for a visit so will give him a bell

Probably a good thing in one way as they are damned ugly, would be a shame to have the Scotish highlands ruined by such eyesores.Every time I drive past my local scrappie I thing how ugly it looks but a part of me always whispers back [:-*] "But it is pretty useful at times".
