So I was driving through town today and was passed by a silver E90 325i
with front splitters etc. Now I hate the Bangle look, and I didn't like
the new 3er when it was launched, but I have to say this car did look
very good on the road - squat and purposeful. And its starting to grow
on me a tiny bit...still not convinced, but perhaps has potential...

I like 'em, but my liking for BMWs is well known[:D]

Had I the cash, the order for an E91 325d SE would've been placed months ago.

Most of the ones we see on the road at the moment are 4 door non-sports so will look fairly ordinary

When the coupe and sport specs come out I reckon it will be a nice looking car - I hated the 5 series when I first saw it but now I really like the sports.

You're quite right, there's a couple of demo cars at my local dealer with spoilers and big wheels and they look so much better than the std car. Quite unusual actually as I usually hate anything that's been messed with.....

I like 'em. However in that shot James if you cover up the bonnet it looks like a Rover 75!!
A Rover 75 with a ?3,000 19" split rim wheel/tyre set - they would be worth more than the rest of the car! [:^)]

Mike - where did you get the top pic from? It looks like the wheels have been Photochopped in - wheels don't look OEM and look similar to Hamann

I have to say I have been underwhelmed with the standard spec new 3. I would love to replace my existing 320d Sport Touring with the new one - but without additional spec it looks boring, and the prices are already too high. Think my money will have to go elsewhere this time.....prob back to VW or Audi!

Photo os a chop [:)]

Im looking forward to seeing the sporty variants. I am not 100% sold on
the E90s looks - as I have said many times I do not like Bangle
styling, but I do like the new 5er in Sport mode (transforms the look
of the car) and the new 3 is alot less drastic. I don't like the swage
lines but it has good proportions, particuarly the rear 3/4 and I think
with big wheels and a bodykit it will look great. We KNOW it will be
fantastic to drive, so I suspect the M3 4 door and M4 coupe will be
mint.

Regardless of whether its ugly or not, the one thing it DOES do is make
the E46 look incredibly dated - hard to spend ?20k on an E46 and
parking next to an E90, which looks light years ahead!

Come on BMW, pull your finger out - launch the 330i Sport , 335i twin turbo (?) and 4 door M3 editions please!

im not too keen on the four door, I'll reserve final judgement until
the coupe comes along. To be honest, im more interested in the 1 series
coupe thats supposed to be coming along soon.

I went to the launch and the new 3 is much nicer in the flesh than the pictures show. Agree with Ian though, the car is just tooooo expensive, hence I'm back with VW. If I'd spec'd a 320dSE with what I've put on the Golf, I'd be looking at ?30-ish K. Ouch !!
