I ordered through drive the deal on 04/11/04 and was told a March delivery date, I managed to get 2.5K of the list, the spec of mine is as follows

18" alloys

6 Disc changer with arm rest

Winter pack 3

Lux Pack 2

Rear parking sensors(dunno why i bothered)

Spare full size alloy

This lot all came to ?20080.00, I have noticed due to the hype that they have now stopped the discount, gues I was lucky.

Saying that I don't have a build date yet and I have been without a car for 3 months [:(]

I bought mine through Jam Jar Cars www.jamjar.com

Discount of 7.5% = ?1,893.86

Spec as follows:

UK supplied - GTI 2.0 FSI-T

3dr

DSG

Solid Black (No Cost Option [:D])

18" Monza II alloys

Xenons

Multi Function Steering Wheel (with DSG paddles and Cruise Control)

6CD Autochanger with Centre Armrest

Parking Sensors

SupaGard[B)]

= ?22,050.14

Ordered 28th December.

EuroImports will do same spec for:

= ?21,495.00 (with 10-12 weeks delivery)

But add on SupaGard (I'm sorry I was in a buying mood when they offered this[B)]) and ?399 for equivalent warranty for year 3, and the fact it is an import (OK not really an issue) - but the PDI will be stamped in DENMARK - and the cheeky blighter who buys it off you (even after 3 years ownership) will want THEIR slice of YOUR saving! Have you not been on to hassle them about that yet? March is only 6 weeks away now and the car should be build in Feb if they told you March delivery [V]

Rang this AM and JamJam confirmed my price [:D].

Except an extra ?1.10 has crept in somewhere (imagines: Richard Pryor character in Superman 3 in his "skimmed off" Ferrari), which I will moan about when I come to pay the balance, but in the end won't worry about.

When I ordered the car Jam Jar quoted 10-12 weeks (so same as any factory spec UK car I think)

When I rang this AM they confirmed estimated delivery of end of march/begining of April. Defo want "05" plate any way.

I don't mind the wait as I have justified it as my present for my birthday, which is in April.

At least the insurance will be cheaper if I insure it after I am 30 [:(]

I agree, I managed to order mine from drivethedeal just before most of the hype kicked in[:D].

The said to me mid march delivery, I have been in contact with the VW garage ever since, as it was ordered months ago, can't see what the hold up is as it's an official UK Gti. I'm going to phone them back in a couple of weeks, they reckon they may have a build date then, we will see [}:)]

Can't wait to get it now though [:D], I think the 18" Monza's look really nice on it too.

I managed to get a ?800 discount (3.6%) when I ordered at the end of November just before the favourable press started. No firm build date as yet, although stealer reckons 2nd/3rd week of Feb for mid March delivery.

I've found the VW stealers all seem to be a bit vague when it comes to details and answering questions.

They deal with spealist cars in Aberdeen, I checked out their website and searched for them on the VW site to make sure they were not dodgy, they seem quite professional too.

The car is being shipped down from them on a transporter and not driven [:D]

Drivethedeal are excellent and use more than one dealership. They tend to use the same dealers over and over again as those are the ones giving the biggest discounts. Most of the dealerships tend to be in the north and scotland, as you could imagine, they do not do as much trade as those in the south so prices are keen to boost sales.

Bought my S-line through them and would do so again[:D]. And to get a deal directly with the dealerships is difficult without letting drivethedeal do the dirty work. I know, I've tried[;)]. Best thing is to take that price and see if anyone can match it with a dealership closer to home. Good Luck!

You'll be lucky to get a VW dealer discount, they're as smug as bugs in rugs when you mention the GTI to them!

I tried a few Yorkshire dealers and although no discount was offered from the sticker price the part-ex price (and thus price to change) I was offered varied hugely between dealers.

My GTI's coming in March (I hope...). Wish I'd ordered it in September when I first specced it on VW's website though, arrrse! [)][:D]
