Right after acquiring a meguiars quick clay detailing kit and half a tub of zymol (dunno which one but its blue and it was free!!) im going to give the car the works this week. Does it go something like this.........

1. Hose car, shampoo, hose again, dry off.

2. Use claybar over whole car.

3. repeat step 1.

4. Use meguiars nxt gen polish wax and buff off.

5. Apply zymol (with hands?) then buff off to shine.

Tried the claybar on a small patch of paint and what a difference!!

Sounds good chief!

Carlos, applying the wax with your bare hands means the wax is warming when it is applied and will bond to the paint better, also you end up using less of the wax as well!

J.
I understand the benefits of using your hands, but I imagine its a bit messy. Is it?

You should purchase/use HD-cleanse before the application of the Zymol wax on the paintwork.

I doubt the application of the zymol wax will be as easy, or the finish as good , just using the megs. polish as the preparation stage. If wanting to use a seperate polish (although not neccesary when using HD-cleanse, but can produce a deeper shine), use products in the following order: HD-Cleanse - Polish - Zymol wax.

Also, in stage 1, there is no need to dry the car before using the clay bar, the clay bar needs all the lubrication it can get, so drying the car is a waste of your time.

Using your hands uses less wax, strange as I always though it was the other way around. A good loaded wax app pad will go a long way....

At the moment you don't really need to warm the wax up, (well yesterday anyway but today is 3 layers and a raincoat, guess summers here then!) as the ambiant temperature is warm enough for it to bond fine.

So those applicator pads aren't absorbant then? I know my fingers definately aren't... Horses for courses! use a pad or your hand so long as the wax gets on the car

After using the claybar the paint was like glass!

Wasn't a good idea to do it after coming home from the gym though my arms are aching!

Right...would certainly give the neighbours something to talk about. Maybe they could come up with a different comment to 'you'll wash it away'.

Would be more like 'I know you love your car, but jeez, what you wiping all that white stuff over it for'.....it's good for the skin Maaaaaammmmm [:D]
