Just thought i'd put a warning up to those delocking/planning to. Just come out of my girlfriends house, quiet road in solihull in a nice area to find my delock missing on the drivers side. Looking closer at it looks like they used a screw driver to leaver off the whole cap bit, then they must have tried putting the screw driver into the lock as there were quite a few scratches on the metal 5p like disk. clifford didnt go off as they didnt manage to get in or anything. luckely i've got another drivers lock here as i was planning on changing it anyway. i dont think they've done any damage to the lock but it gives me a reason to kick myself into gear and fit the thing.

just thought i'd warn anyone fitting the kit to make sure they fit the metal disk too as without that they may have got inside my car. alarm would have been going off sure but still.

Wow lucky escape there Dean

I fitted the metal disc into mine today too.

When I got the disc I laughed, thinking this aint gonna do Jack S..T

But when I stuck it in, I realised that it would atleast make it more difficult again. U'd need to spend time prising it out atleast. Hopefully slowing them down enough to prevent them from getting in...

Delocking without using the Disc isn't enough on it's own. You're just making it easier for them IMO.

On another note, Has anyone succesfully cut the correct wires that make the windows go down etc??

It was often talked about, but no one seemed to say they'd done it or not

was more shocked it had happened outside my gf's house more than anything. most of the people on the road know each other and a copper lives next door and another one dead opposite. at least they didnt get in or damage any paint work, there is a tiny chip on the handle but nothing major

should i bother reporting it to the police? i know its not going to do anything and i'm not claiming for it but it adds another figger onto the unsolved crime list.

Is it a specific disc or do you just use a 5p?

you get it from a dealer, its just a round metal disk about the size of a 5p, its free too.

Happy for you that the door handle isn't badly damaged.

But quite suprised too. I did the torx screw up REALLY tight on my door cap, to ensure that it's staying in there good and proper. Wonder did you do the same?

Matte - the disc is smaller than a 5p coin. Infact it's the perfect diameter to fit exactly into the hole. So my recommendation is get one quick time

whats the metal disc thing? i delocked mine months ago no disc things in sight..any one got any pics..

those are the 3 parts, the metal disc fills the whole where the very back of the lock goes in, if you look into the whole once you've taken the lock out (or cap if you've already delocked) there is a circular whole which the disc just pushes into

i cant remember how tight i did it up to be honest, i wouldnt have left it lose but then again i know i wouldnt have done it up too tight. I glad really that it came off as it prob saved them causing more damage to the handle

Same here - dealer has no idea. I have the cap and metal bit, but need the disk. No point in doing it now without the disk. Any ideas anyone?

Same here mate I just phoned up VW's in Loughton they said exactly the samething to me, they have never heard of a disc to fit in the lock they told me it only comes as two parts i.e cap and barrel. They told me to try Euro Car Parts I might give them a ring later on. Where did everyone else get theres from please could you let us know cheers.

i just got mine from the dealer in solihull, he didnt give it me at first but when i explained what it was he went out the back and found it. if you tell them the part number above and they type it into there system it may tell them a location in the stores where to get it from.

Like everyone else I'm keen to delock. But I share some of the confusion about how the parts (in particular the magic disc) goes together. Having never taken my door handle/lock apart I'd be interested to see how these parts fit/look like in place. Does anyone have DIY shots that show what it all looks like etc?? It'd help all us dumb asses who can't quite figure out how it all works! [:D] [)]
