how much did that cost you?? im looking for something like that and downpipe for mine then get it mapped.I have a full turbo back system made by Milltek, the fit is quite good and it's a bit louder depending on how much throttle I'm applying. However it doesn't seem to improve performance much other than helping the turbo spin up a little sooner.
Maybe I'll get the full benefits from it once I have the car remapped, so I guess it depends on how far you're planning on going with your car and what budget. If you can be bothered to crawl under a car and fit it yourself then an off the shelf system might do you well, I did this and then had to take it to a garage for a mate to get some heat on the turbo to downpipe nuts as one was a bit stubborn!
If you are working to a very tight budget you could do as you suggested and cut out the particle filter, and also replace the back box with a straight bit of pipe. You will hear the turbo very clearly though and that's as free flowing as you can get. Maybe do the DIY decat first and see what you think of that alone, I think that's the larger blockage if I had to choose between the particle filter and backbox.
Cheers for the info! So to recap your suggesting diy an replace cat with a bit of pipe and back box to start off, and once i save ill get a full system!I have a full turbo back system made by Milltek, the fit is quite good and it's a bit louder depending on how much throttle I'm applying. I got the cat cut out on mine then got a stainless steel system all the way through to a very small backbox and it sounds so much better!if you can weld then cut the cat out and replace with a piece of pipe. and then replace the back box with a stainless one if you can.
thats all i have done with mine and it sounded no different untill i got it mapped and it roars from 3-4k (not to loud but a little better than standard)
i'm talking about the actual size of the box, i've only got one very small box at the back, its bigger than i would like around 3.5inches exit but it was free from a car at work so i dont mind.
