Is the Siera Cosworth still considered as the ultimate classic monster saloon?, i remember at one stage it was way rare and you were top nads if you had one?

Other classic hype cars,

Renaut 5 GT Turbo

Pug 305 GT

Does anyone still own and drive these relics?[:)]

Ahhhh the R5 GT, what a great little car. If there were an award for the shabbiest, worst built shed in history the R5 would be in close competition with the Citroen Visa GTi - however - I alwasy wanted one though!

My mate had a red SKEETE R5 GT, dropped to the floor, and it went like the clappers! Quickest little car I have ever been in! Funny though, when he braked the seats used to move about 1" forwards [:D]

The orginal car to sport the dump valve noise [8D]

I agree Lotus Carlton is THE DADDY there is a class video of one in a police chase in sweden it leaves the cop car standing at 140 mph, I thought very hard about buying one, but the shortage of simple parts such as brake pads makes it very unrealistic, unless when it breaks you dont mind doing without your car for 4 months whilst waiting for parts to be made.

Got that vid [;)]

That very one in the pic belongs to a bloke on my road - I used to see him all the time in it as he used it for his daily commute, I then saw it on the back of an AA truck twice in 3 weeks and I now only see it on the occasional weekend [:D]

The Lotus Carlton was the world's fastest production saloon for quite a while, y'know. It certainly was the daddy. The Cossie pales in insignificance. If you're talking monster hatchbacks - take a goose at the Lancia Delta Integrale Evolution. Or, my personal favourite - the Audi Sport Quattro. Mmmm-baby!

Theres 2 categories here - homologation specials - Super Salloons even though

they are all limited editions but for different race series, touring cars rallying apart

from the Lotus which was just a plain Autobahn stormer.

My Choice would be

super saloons - Lotus Carlton - RS500 Cosworth - BMW E30 M3

Homologation Rally Specials - Lancia Delta integrale Evo3 - RS200 - 6R4

Guy i used to work with was a Ford collector and he had...

RS500 Cossie

RS2000 Escort

RS200 ****' special

RS3100 Capri (one of only a couple in the UK at the time)

When they were all out and show prep'd they looked great.

Personally, when i was a nipper, the Audi Quattro's and the Lotus Cortina's all held real appeal. The Ford Savages were also pretty cool. Owned a MKII V6 Savage and loved every moment of it.
