~ this one edited for some old pictures since I got the car

a couple of days after I picked it up in September 2004

So, the first mods I did was a black VW badge,

followed by the Hella lights, which went very soon after..

then went completely the wrong way and fitted some ACE132s before I lowered it.

and the Bora vents, Alpine HU

painted my centre console pieces in Rover's Charcoal shade

decided to paint a couple of the wheels black which I regretted within minutes of fitting them

Posted Image

so I did a swap with Hep for these wheels

I got some FK Konigsports too which helped with the look

also I tried some Anniversary headlights. Since gone back to standard

and went taking lots of photos

but the paint on the wheels was getting a little tatty and chipped so I had them powdercoated [:)]

and now, here's the result [H]

I wanted a lighter shade this time, which when I originally dropped them off was plain silvery grey. Driving home I had a few negative thoughts as to my choice, so I rung back and spoke to the chap doing the job if he could do a bit of a mix with the lacquer and add a drop of black. That's how they turned out ^^ [y]

'Wait until the weather gets better before fitting' I kept telling myself after I picked them up yesterday..... That lasted until this morning [:D] So after a coat of Collinite on they went - sorry I didn't get adventurous with the photo locations (usual places for me) planning on some better pics once I've cleaned it

Must say thanks for the job to Diamond Wheels in Stockport, Steve who did them was a bit wary of doing the lacquer / black mix but tried it on some of his own wheels before doing mine and really went the extra bit for me [y] top chap

Mint! [Y] Long time admirer of your car Pat, those wheels, and the colour, just set it off perfectly!

Do you mind me asking how much the powder coating on the wheels was?

Cheers, Andy [:)]

[:D][y] cheers folks - was a bit worried I'd made the wrong choice but the more I see them the more they grow on me. I want the sun to come out even for a minute as I reckon they'll look great then!!

They cost me ?55 + VAT per wheel, that included removing the tyres and re-mounting and balancing afterwards. There wasn't any extra costs for my special lacquer requests either or the extra work Stevie had to do in order to achieve the smoky finish [y]

Forgot to write in the original post as I always get asked [:D] - all I know about the wheels is they are 18"x8" et35 PCD 5x100 (direct fit) and are stamped 'Zaphire - Made in Italy' on the back of the spokes. Andymac thinks they could be Volvo wheels bought as blanks and drilled to suit a mk4 and I am pretty much in agreement with that [y]

thanks for all the positive comments chaps
