Hi Guys and girls

I'm looking to improve the alarm system on my Golf and have been looking at the Clifford G5 range. Been rather impressed with the IntelliGuard 950 [^]

So I'm wondering if all your wonderful people on this forum can help me out with any advice on the Glifford alarms if you have one? The ease of use with the multiple-button remote, service/fittting from where ever you had it done and any thing else you can think of please.

If I do go for the Intelli 950 then looking at some of the additional add-ons they do for this system as well [;)]

Anyway, many thanks in advance for all your advice and help.

Clifford systems are the dogs doodahs. Have had a Clifford in every car I've owned (4) with the exception of my current Bora as I've only had it a month. My old Polo had a Concept 300 with all the toys - window roll-ups, auto start and sense & tell (talks to potential theives and also the local kids playing with "Knight Rider"). They are very easy to use and offer great protection. Got my last one installed by Drivers in Glasgow which is probably no use to you as I see your in Reading, but most Clifford dealers will make a good job of installing.

I've had them in all two cars i've owned! You should have no worries about putting it into a golf but PM me and i think i have the wiring diagrams (i think!) if not i know someone who does! Easy, relatively inexpensive and no-one has even touched my cars ever! You can even get a blue LED which matches the golf interior lights! How sad am I! Any radio/security place will fit them but have got a few places round here which I know are good! Just make sure you find a official clifford place. Think they are on their website?

yeah i can't recommend highly enough. i had my concept 600 with remote start installed as soon as i got my current carlast summer and it is brilliant.

gave me so much piece of mind compared with bog standard system.

you'll find it to be very clever with sensors too....i.e. one time after i'd replaced a head light bulb i left a screwdriver in the edge of the bonnet so that when it came down it wouldn't go all the way, but it was hardly noticeable (few millimetres) yet the clifford kept warning me of boot or bonnet failure every time i armed it so i made sure i found the problem

plus having the bells and wistles is always fun...remote start is a great trick feature

Window roll-up was no bother to the installers. Only trouble with it is that you have to keep your finger on the remote button to get the window up then they stop half way and you have to press again, was told it was down to British Legislation being different from everywhere else and had to do this as a safety feature. Maybe they were bull pooing me, but would be interesting to see if the other guys with roll-ups is the same.

JohnGTi - Funny you shouldmention going to John Kleis as I was in there today chatting for about 20 mintues to a guy called Mark!!! Does he know you from this forum and as JohnGTi?

It does look as though I will be getting the Intelliguard 950 as it is a very good system and I'll add on the Intellistart too. Makes it nice n warm in the winter yet nice n cold in the summer when i get into my car [^]

Now all I got to do is see if they'll drop the price just a little bit or make sure the installation takes a day and no more [;)]

Thanks for all the info and advice already [:D]

Well, booked the car into John Kleis for the fitting of the Clifford IntelliGuard 950 with IntelliStart. [:)]

They say it should be fitted all in one day too but if not then the IntelliStart will be fitted at a later date for no extra cost.

Spud - great system especially at that price but 2 things would stop me getting this.

1. It isnt Cat 1 Certified by Thatcham as only the Concept 650 & IntelliGuard 950 are.

2. Who would fit it anyway? Most dealers will only supply and fit and that is included in their price or should be just like I have done so with John Kleis.

Its a brilliant system but I'd rather go for one that is fitted by the professionals that Clifford check up on and the system carries the Cat 1 Certified Thatcham approval too.
