Changing side lights...

how on earth can you change a bulb when there is no room to do it?

i have tried searching through all the forum opst to get some help but it is no good!

does anyone know where there are any guides to do it? pictures etc etc

only 2 options as far as i can see:

1) take the battery out.

2) take the bumper and lights out (i dont wanna have to take the bumper off cos that is a right pain!)

should i just give up and pay a stupid amount to a garage for a bulb change?

Please help me save money!

Either....

A - Find a person with small hands and get them to do it

or

B - Get an attractive female to take the car and bulbs to the dealers (wearing appropriate clothing [])

i cant even get close to touching it never mind taking it out!

how does it come out? twist or clip?

The easiest way is to take the bumper off, it is a really easy 10 minute job to remove it and then 4 screws hold each ligh unit in, you will easily save that time fiddling about down the side of the battery etc. trying to get the bulbs in.

Taking the bumper off is a lot less scary than most people think,I changed my sidelight bulbs a couple of weeks back by taking the bumper off,and the whole job was over in half an hour,which included washing the inside of the bumper.

can just see the clip being a problem.... where did you get the 4mm nut and bolt from B&Q?

also should the lights just sit back in the correct positions or will i need to re-aline them?

other question is....

LED's or normal bulbs? i am thinking LED's (fewer times to take the bumper off in the long run)

might as well do both while i am there etc...

I don't take the front grille off when taking the bumper off, just unclip it then attach a bungee cord to it and hang it from the bonnet catch so it is held up out of the way [], you can then get at the screws behind [Y]

I use some very long nosed grips,they look like they belong in surgery.Takes about 3mins to swap both side with these[Y]

You can still get the bumper off if you just let the grill hang with the release lever still through it,and the 4mm nut and bolt was picked at random from my odd screw and nut box,and is normally kept company by a family of spiders,species unknown.

Oh and sidelight bulbs don't need to be aligned,just a 1/4 turn to lock them in place.

These are what you need,pull the back cover off.Stick these in and grab the bulb holder,pull it out,put in your new bulbs/led's.And just push them back in again.

Thanks for all the surgestions.... the bumper is coming off at the weekend!

i have one more question.... i have headlamp washers!

Can anyone tell me if they are totally connected to the bumper? or if i have to do somat with them?

Disconecting abit of tubeing wont be an issue... just nice to know what to expect!

Aany help would be nice...

You just need to unclip the caps off the jets then the bumper should just pull off as per the guide [Y]

lol, i know just what ya mean, stupid design i fink, work thru the pain of crushing ya hand into tiny pieces and get the job done, best way is to take the bumper off, pain i know[:'(]

Taking the bumper off really is easy, don't worry about it.

Once you've had it off once you'll realise just how easy it is. I had to take mine off twice in one day a little while ago, didn't bother me.

i did it at the weekend no problems with taking the bumper off! [Y]

although i bought the wrong bulbs! my lights dont take the 501's. lol

took me an hour and a half with a visit to halfords in the middle... so an hour spent doing it i recon, i am impressed with that as it was my first go! []

Do the bulbs turn to get them out or just pull as there seems to be a difference of opinion in the discussion thread.
