Sorry to bring up an old thread but I've just got VAG-COM and was Richarding about with this option.

The options I'm given are

Value 1 Alarm Horn rest-europe

Value 2 Alarm Horn Germany

Value 3 Alarm Horn UK

Value 4 Alarm Horn UK

Anyone have a visual way of letting me know what these all sound like or am I going to have to go and set my alarm off to find out?

I did this about a year or more ago and I seemed to stuff up my remote locking. not sure if it's related to the above but just be careful yeah!?

edit: I did sort it though within a few days myself!

That's what I don't want to do - stuff anything up.

Although as it's only a case of changing a code I would think it was the same to reverse the process. Unless of course it goes deeper than just altering the specific channel. hmmmm

I just did it yesterday. As V66ora said, the only 'horn sound' that is different is the German one.

Instead of the shrill weeooo weeooo noise (!) you get a lower pitched siren type sound. Personally, I've left it set as Germany, that way if my alarm ever does go off I'm going to know it's mine and not one of the other 329583456 VWs around!

I can't see how the AA would have changed the tone, I used to work for them and an easy break in was to power up the reversing light cable (unplug the cable from the gearbox switch) then apply power to either of the wires and the negative to the cars chassis. One wire would just light up the reversing lights, the other would power up the whole dash, ignition etc, then you put a plastic wedge in the door and wind down the window as the switch is now powered up. I had various tools made up to do this and I used a fused 12v battery. Really cant see anyway they would have changed your horn tone, the Vag mod is only the alarm siren tone anyway.
