Been having this problem for a few days now. When Im going at moderate
speed, and slow down or accelerate, the car kind of *coughs* and its
like its miss firing or something. It also plays up when I slightly
step on the accelerator at low speeds. Anyone know what it could be ?

They provide the power to enable the spark plug to spark, on the 170 V5
you have a coil pack per cyclinder, though as you 150 V5 has HT leads,
it's will be very unlikely that you have coil packs.

Have you checked your spark plugs ? Might be an idea to take them out
to see what condition they are in, it could also be a MAF fault causing
the problem.

My best advice, would be to get it connected to VAGCOM to see if any faults have been recorded.

I would start by running it on 98RON fuel if you arent already.

I have seen a few V5's with sticky/burnt valves causing the problem your describing because the 95RON fuel leaves carbon deposits in the internals.

If its sticky valves then long term good fuel and/or conditioner can erradicate it, whereas if its burnt valves they need replaced(expencive)

At the same time it could just be the spark plugs or the ignition leads starting to arc out.

Hope thats a help

Hi Nudda,

I just did a search on 'spluttering' and this post from 2005 came up.

Can I ask if your coil light was flashing when you had this problem? my cars just started spluttering at low speeds too, did you ever find out what it was?

please let me know, it's driving me nuts!
