I pulled the handle on my glovebox today to open it and heard a snap, the glovebox now doesn't even open and it feels as if the handle has become completely loose from the glovebox - it feels as if it isn't even connected to the glovebox anymore. I obviously need a new glovebox, but does anyone have the part number from VW and a price? And how will I put my current lock (which allows my VW key to be used on it) on the new glovebox? And more importantly how do I open the glovebox now, I can't access any of the things inside!

Thanks but how do you get the front off, because it feels as if it dosent want to come off, and if i pull at it.

it will just snap. Thanks
When you have the glove box out of the car, you will see there is a seam that runs around the inside, where the lid meets the back of the front, when you look at where the 2 cup holder circles are, if you get what i mean.

You need to get something sharp ie knife, in here to prise it apart, the glue is quite strong, this will separate the door from the rest of the glove box.

No need to buy a new glove box, as you will have to do this anyway, to change the locks over.

I did mine recently with it all in place. Prising the front off sounds really daunting and it doesn't feel like it will come of without breaking. It has little ribs that are attached all the way round which you can see in the pics above. Just use a flat blade like a filling knife to snap all round. Once the mechanism is fixed I just flung some superglue round and it's fine, you wouldn't notice.
