Hi all, set off to work this morning and heard a thud and a twang(best i can do) just had a look and found a piece of spring from front passenger side,about 3inch long,looks like its come from the top of the spring,

Will it be ok to use?

how difficult is it to replace them, anyone got any tips for average diy;er

hmm, i wouldnt recommend using it unless its imperative, but if the spring hasent dislodged or completely failed it wont hurt to drive it easy.

that said, changing a spring is pretty easy, remove the strut assembley few nuts and bolts, then compress the spring (providing it needs to be compressed since it is broken). beware with this though, because spring under tension is quite lethal if the top mount is unbolted. then compress new one, slide onto strut, fit top mount and re-fit to car.

it does make you anxious the first one you take off but providing its done the corect way there shud be no problems
