Just reading the new VW Driver mag & I saw this in the Classified Ads

"Golf R32 which has been in Carccon dry stored from new,Only 900miles,Showroom condition,Delivered in June 2003,Deep Blue Pearl 5 door with leather & Delta options, ?21500"

Sorry but whats the point of buying an R32 then just keeping it in storage[:S]

OK maybe in 10-15 years time, maybe even longer it might be worth a mint but it all seems a bit pointless to me

Not anyone on here is it by any chance?? Sellers name is Mark

Could be a number of reasons why it's so low mileage

The guy could have been relocated overseas,

maybe he got banned from driving,

maybe he's got too much money,

maybe he's got no time

Whatever the reason, no VW is ever gonna appreciate in value! thats
just stupid. These cars are meant to be enjoyed to the full, out
on the road. Not as a museum showpiece!

I absolutely love driving my car about. Why else would I have
covered 33k miles in 2 and a bit years! (I dont use the car for
commuting either!)

Completely agree there Fly. I've done about the same mileage as you in my R32.....however, it had done 9k before I bought it. 45,000 glorious miles.

Slightly off topic but following on from your comments guys - do R32s loosen up with mileage? Some VAG engines I've had experience of seem much the same new or with high miles and others really come alive when they've got over 20k on them.

I'd say so. Mine seems to have loosened up quite nicely. It used to
sound a bit strained at high revs on low mileage but these days it
tends to "sing" a bit more.

I thought my car got better at 5k, then again at 10k. But the
real difference was when I got it chipped and miltek'd exhaust.

By then it didn't feel so asmatic..

VW seem to have de-tuned the engine for no apparent reason from stock.

Looks rather a nice colour for the 4Mo as well [:D]

Mines the other car featured so finally made it into the magazine [;)]
cheers Mark, your is a nice moded model, alas mine is a wee bit standard at the moment, but watch this space, just bought some BBS CH 18", FK coilovers & R32 roll bars on order, and a remap for xmas (she will find out eventually[:D])

I now have 2 copies of the Mag as Neil & his team sent me a freebie, I am well chuffed to get featured.

Mike.

Hi all

It's my car that's for sale in the VW Driver Classifieds.

I've also got a Reflex Silver R32 which has had more use !

There's a number of reasons why the Deep Blue Pearl car didn't get used as I intended. One of these was a quite difficult 18 months with the Mrs which has recently resulted in her moving out.

But for someone looking for an A1 car in top condition this is the car for you. It is basically a new car and if you're prepared to pay that bit extra for this then the car will be yours!

If anyone is interested give me a shout.

oh....well that explains it all then! Sorry to hear about such circumstances Mark. Have been thru' same thing myself and I wouldn't wish this upon anybody. Good luck in selling the car; one lucky owner in the waiting somewhere out there.

Cheers Maxie

As you say it's not a good time for me. I'm sure there are a few of us on here who have been through similar circumstances.

The car is an absolute beauty and will be perfect for someone I'm sure. It's a bargain if you think of it as a new car (which it is).

It is now in the classifieds here.

To buy one of these,

in the condition and mileage that R32 is, it gets its new asking price. They depreciated so far then as less of them were on the go, the started to appreciate.

If the R32 appreciates, I doubt it will be to the same extent as there were more of them built, and they are to be superceded.

Not sure if I understood the point of the Cosworth Escort post....I thought the point of the thread was about trying to sell one man's R32. [:S]

At the end of the day the R32 thats for sale is still priced over book price.........regardless of it only having 900 miles etc etc it is still over book price & I think will be very hard to sell.........its the same as everything else in this world its only worth what someone is willing to pay

I don't think ?21,500 is expensive at all. If you look on VW's website there are several that are still being priced at 21k with around 15-18k miles on the clock! I know you pay more at a dealership than private, but I'd rather pay a little bit extra for peace of mind that it has done only 900 miles - less chance of it being thrashed about.

R32's with leather hold a premium too, so I think ?21,500 is a fair price to ask for an immaculate, almost brand new R32. If you don't ask, you don't get and I'm sure it will still sell at that price. If I was in the market for an R32 I'd certainly consider it over one from a dealer with 20 times the mileage on.

The fact that it has done very very few miles could be a real problem.  Unless it has been stored 100% perfectly you will have problems with components that need to be used regularly.

Exactly my thought aswell.........we see more problems with the cars that have done very few miles than the ones with average/high miles
