In the last week or so when I adjust the drivers side mirror on my 1.8T the passenger side mirror moves aswell

If I adjust the passenger side mirror the driver side mirror stays still though.

When I had it serviced at BRM the guy said he didn't know what was causing it - Not a great problem but really annoying so if anyone knows what might be causing it let me know

It's meant to make your life eaiser, you adjust your right mirror first so that your happy with it then adjust your left, Now its set if you are reversing and need a wider/shorter viewing angle you go to adjust the right mirror and the left will corrispond and adjust the same way. I Think anyway!

I read somewhere about it, called syncronising. You can have it turned off, not sure how you turn it off though. I don't mind it, find it rather usefull really. Mine didn't do it at first, then when i was fiddling with the mirrors it started to do it!!

Its a feature not a problem, it has many benefits as mentioned above, but also if you are 6'6'' and share a car with someone who is say 5'6'' and they have to adjust the seat, they only have to adjust one mirror as the other should follow suit (Thus if they need to be lowered, they both lower together!). Hence, as said before, making your life easier! :)

Yes,, they all do this ,,,and it even surprising that some car dealers dont even know about it and think the switches are faulty !

We got 2 Golf GTI's , mine and my girlfriends ,, and it works great when we drive each others cars .

Surprising how it not explained in manuals and catches people out .
