Hi

Anyone know where you can get a decent, late model Bora Sport (non Recaro) interior from?

My driver's seat is a little tired due to heavyweight first owner! Shame, because rest of seats are mint. Tried on eBay but they all seem to be the wrong (earlier) type.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

have you tried any scrap yards/breakers.

I have heard people on this forum mention parts exchange websites where you type in what your looking for and scrappers/breakers can reply back with prices. Im sure someone on here has details.

Sorry i cant be of much more help

Thanks Noel

Seasons Greetings to you too.

I tried a local breaker and actually found a seat, but as the glass on the car was broken, the seat had moss growing out of it!

I'll try some of the parts exchanges as you suggest and see how I get on. Main stealer wants over ?200 for a seat cover, which is just lunacy!

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for your reply. There are 3 types of sports seats apparently. They all have basically the same centres in a check material which is either blue, grey or red I believe, but it is the black cloth which is different. Some of the really late ones don't have lumbar supports either!

The earliest seats have a ribbed effect and rounded seat bolsters, then there was a short period where the same pattern was used with a more synthetic cloth and the later type is smooth material with squarer bolsters and a double stitch effect.

My seats have the hole in the headrest but have the later type cloth and squarer bolsters. The car was built September 2001 but is a series 2 chassis number.

I hope this makes sense - I could perhaps take some photos and we could compare. If you've got the right ones I'll be well impressed - they seem rarer than hen's teeth!

Cheers and Merry Christmas

The Bora Sport interior is different to the GTTDi interior. The Bora Sport seats have lumbar support, the same as the 1.8T and 150PD Golf. The GTTDi has the same seats as the 2.0GTi which don't have lumbar support and the bolsters aren't as pronounced.

I've had the 2.0GTi, and now the Bora Sport and the Sport seats are far better.

Thanks for the info - I knew someone would know the answer.

Been thinking of approaching a coach trimmer to see if they can help - may have done a full leather re-trim and have a cover available. The basic seat is OK it's just the cloth in the centre which are wearing. Or I might just give up and buy a newer car!

They're ?200 plus fitting plus VAT - and that's silly money, so I'll exhaust every alternative first! - or end up exhausted.

That's probably the route I'll have to go if I can't find a decent set of Bora seats or get it repaired. I'm just a bit reluctant to change the whole interior for a slightly worn driver's seat.

The Sport seats are very comfortable and I would like to keep them if at all possible. The car is in pretty good nick for its age so I was trying to keep it in a decent state, I've even considered a re-map and new clutch, suspension etc. but is it really worth it on a 5 year old Bora which has done 95K?

You're probably right.

Given that the old girl may need a little fettling here and there, do you have any opinions on sensible mods? I did all the fast road/rally/lowered stuff years ago (via Mk2 Escort Mexico and heavily modded RS2000's), but if I keep this Bora - and this one is my 3rd after V5 and 150TDI (company car) - what are useful mods? I've heard all sorts of stuff about re-maps, both good and seriously bad.

I'd just welcome some opinions as I'm new to the forum and an ageing saddo!

Can anyone else help?

Cheers & Merry Xmas
I have a set of old dusty rear sports seats here. I don't have a clue what year they are but they'll fit a golf or bora. Ignore the dirt, it'll just brush off. Are the back ones any good for you?

Thanks very much for your reply. Sorry for not responding sooner, my Daughter managed to break our modem so I've only just got the internet back on.

These may indeed help as i've spoken with a coach trimmer who could take the material from rears and transfer to fronts. Will you give me a couple of days to get back to you?
