Hi people,

I've had my bora for about 6 months and it's coming up to 78k and is displaying the service message. I've had a quote from our local VW dealer for £249 for the service, but I notice kwick fit and the like are much cheaper.

The thing that's bothering me most is that despite having a full service history when I got it (at 74k) I don't see anything regarding it ever having a timing belt change.

To be honest the cars quite old now, so the basic service stuff like new oil, filters, plugs etc I'm willing to just do myself. It's the timing belt that bothers me, the dealer is quoting £319 for that.

Any advice ?

dealer wanted £650 all in for mine too, many garages can do a cambelt job for around £100, i dont know if the water pump is related on the bora but if it is belt driven and hasnt been done, have that done aswell

Cheers guys, think I'll check out a few local garages for the work then.

It'd be nice if I could find out from vw if it had been done already at any point though.
