Boot won't open!!!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me with the above problem? I have a 53 plate Mk4 Gt Tdi, and since the great freeze the boot will not open. I can hear the central locking mechanism working in the boot door, but when I pull the handle absolutely nothing happens at all. I have tried putting the key in and turning it all ways etc but still nothing. Is there any way to open the boot without destroying the internal door lining (as this can't be removed without the boot being open) catch 22 I guess. Worse case senario would be to dremmel a hole in the lining in order to get to the internal mechanism!!!!
