The boot on my mk4 Gti has started to play up. It locks and unlocks fine I can here the lock mechanism whirring.
When the key hole is in the vertical position my understanding is that the boot is unlocked, but only when the rest of the car is unlocked. The boot refuses to open in this scenario, nothing happens when I pull the handle. This satrted to stick and I really had to work hard to get it open during the frost but saw frost on the lock and put it down to meerly freezing shut this now appears not to be the case.
I can still however open the boot by having the key in the 10 and 4 position, this allows the handle to open the boot so all is not lost its just such a pita having to fanny about when I want to be in the boot.
I'm now totally perplexed as the boot appears to open fine first thing in the morning (has done this monday and tuesday) when I go to work 7am but come dinner 1pm it won't open unless I have the key at 10 and 4 [:S]
I plan to take the cover off and have a proper look at the weekend but would like a few suggestions what to look out for
TIA, James.
