Yeah, the spoiler needs to be massive for a lot of downforce to keep these beasts on the ground. Unfortunately, the M3 GTR is banned from a lot of races as of today (including Le Mans, LMES, FIA-GT & ALMS) due to homologation issues BMW was having with the governing bodies. Basically, the car was too competitive so the likes of Porsche & Ferrari complained...

'homologation' adj. confirmation and ratifying by subsequent act

good word smallboy! Ill have to try and slip that one in somewhere [;)]

So basically, you can make a car as fast as you like as long as its not faster than the fastest or they will complain and get you kicked out [?][?][?]

omg. That thing makes the Supercup Porsche GT3s (which lets face it are not slow!) look like they are going backwards!!

Funny how that stonechip in the windscreen is more like a target half the time searching for it's next victim.

That red Porsche does have a big spoiler!!

In a sense "yes". Oppositions were complaining BMW didn't produce much road going versions (GTR road car) for it to be eligible and therefore they claimed BMW had an unfair advantage. Why? By not making enough road going version, money/time could have been used on the race version instead. It is a pre-requisite for many race cars (mainly Touring and GT cars) - manufacturers have to make "enough" road going versions to classify it as a certain class. This process is called homologation.

I enclose a pic of the 996 Bi-Turbo with a huge forehead problem.
