Hi Everyone,

As the title suggests really. Ive seen a '03 plate BMW 330d sport for similar money - the BM has options like auto/leather/xenons/bluetooth/harmon kardon upgrade and remainder of a BMW free servicing schedule, but then the golf would be a brand spanker....

Having said that, those 3 series sport models do look the business agreed???

Any owners on here? am I right in thinking MOB has a 330d sport? I would be interested to know the everyday fuel consumption

Oh and out of interest, its cheaper for me to insure than my MKIV GTi-T!!! WTF!!!!!

cheers for any opinions

Definately go for the Beemer.  Had a shot in a new 330cd about 6 months ago and it was a phenomenal car.  Couldn't believe it was a diesel it was that good and stacked full of toys.  Would be no hesitation for me.

I'd definitely recommend the 330d. I had one of the earlier
184 bhp models before I got the R32 and it was an excellent performer
all round, the later 204 bhp version can only be better!

I used to average 38 mpg with my 330d at 40k on the clock. That
was mostly commuting to and from work up the A1 and into Newcastle,
pretty dam good compared to the 25mpg I get now.

330D every time. I've been in a remapped one and the performance is astounding. It is as fast as a Ferrari 355!!
Good wasn't it! Now remapped again by Superchips (Allard map removed) it has 300bhp and some STUPID amount of Nm that I can't remember.

Leaves London on Saturday for a week's jaunt around Europe, 355 slaying[:p].

Some people just really hate BMW's and the whole image that goes with them!

My mate had a 330D touring that was chipped and it was amazing, even with the slish box he opted for.

The only downside is that prices may take a slight tumble now the new model is out?

Also one nearly won the Gumball!

That's the car I drove in February with NikB referred to above.

I was on a par with it on a trackday at Goodwood last year when it had about 270bhp to my 193bhp - largely due to the fact that my superior brakes compensated for the extra top end it had on the two longer straights. We were both doing 1' 37"s. Ant is an occasional visitor here (Ant397) and bought an Anni PD150 for his Mrs soon after that trackday (now Superchipped). He's a regular poster in the Gumball3000 forum on www.m5board.com as is Pete (Pigginell)

The 330d and theirs in particular is indeed a quantum leap from even a good MkIV and impressed NikB and I immensely. Ant's car now has 19" CSL alloys, M-Tech brakes, custom unrestricted 3" exhaust, Allard FMIC, uprated clutch and a custom Superchips map. It's a bit of an animal.

Guys,

lol.... I thought the general opinion would be something along these lines.....

Anyways as it happens I have driven it, loved it too (perhaps unsuprisignly) its an Auto box but with the steptronic so kinda manual if I want.

Put a deposit on her last nite!! should be mine in about 3 weeks!! gonna be a long wait me thinks...!!

And I think its the 204bhp as well, its a July 2003 could anyone confirm this???

Thanks

My other car is a Amd chipped 330d that she uses...its a 53 plate 204 bhp model ...now with 265 bhp with a manual box and believe me ..the auto is way more less economical...i can get 40 mpg on a cruise controlled set @70 mph with no traffic run on the way to work...but i can also tell u this ...from a standing start its quick ...when rolling its devastating to put i mildly..and its more than capable of mashing up some so called supercars, and i can also tell u on a autobahn i seen 145 on the clock and there is more if u wanted to load it up.As for the kit i got the sat nav tv bluetooth xenons nappa and m tec sports 18's and its nice...expensive but nice.Go test drive a manual one and have a fit how it just goes wooooooshhhhhh and off [:D]

Go for the GTI any day over an 03 plate 330d,  i recently drove a 330d and they are ok,but by no means are they anywhere near as nippy and responsive as the GTI that i test drove. BMW also bring out  new modles every other year !
