I haven't really had a car I needed to look after before. So this whole cleaning and polishing thing is kinda new to me [:D]

Is there a polish brand (or two) that are considered to be the best [?]

Any products I really should get or steer clear of [?]

Found the answer to this question here -

And while I have your attention [:)] My car doesn't have a rear wiper like my last one and I had zero visibility out of it this morning due to condensation, if there anything out there that makes the water run off, like wax for windows I suppose....

If thats a nice red Passat i see, then plenty of Autoglym Super Resin Polish will keep her looking sweet, followed up by Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. As 02 Bora suggests,Rain-X for the rear screen, you can get it from Halfords. Paul.

Nah, get yourself some maguiars NXT & some P21S Cannuba wax, maguiars 3stage, you will be impressed by the finish. Nothing wrong with AG, its just a bit old school in my view, they need to up their game to 2004

Just see for yourself....

best polish well you will see in the forum lots of names to play with .but you really want to do is apply a good wax on top of your highly polished surface and before you polish i hope you have clayed the surface first so you have no scratching to your paint work from contamination on the paint surface.on the glass you should only use a cleaner not a wax as you will get smearing and dazzeling from lights when wet and on a night.

Autoglym glass polish followed by Grojet2000 acrylic sealant or Klasse AIO sealant. Perfect even for your windshield.

Well, the Grojet was bought in my country. Both sealants (choose one) are European made (German I think). The klasse is an USA name. You can search google and find something. For the grojet I have this link http://www.kw22.de/groth/engl/shop/shop_in.html.

Choose one or another. The klasse is world renoun, specialy in EUA, but it's harder to get here in Europe! :(

If you look in the group buys section, i've posted up that we can get 10% discount on www.cleanandshiny.co.uk through here. They do Meguiars stuff too.

I'm sure Jace can answer your other questions.. he's well into his wax.... *geek* [;)] [:p]

Try these guys out, top class service.

& check this out for "how-to's", & you can buy from here too, but its in the states, takes about 1 wk for the delivery to arrive though, almost down to UK speed. usd1.85 at mo makes it worth while.

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/how-to.html

Waxed it TWICE this year !!, Im down to doing it twice a month, & I feel bad for doing it that little.

You only get out what you put in, that pic is the result of 8hrs hard work.

With reference purely to cleaning the glass, I used white vinegar for the first time last night on the inside of my windscreen.. sick of smeary marks and dirt.. and WOW.. it's superb.. cheap as chips too.. and sometimes goes on 'em too lol.

Just used three sheets of kitchen towel and some vinegar.. looks smeary when you put it on, but wipes off spotless ! Great stuff.

Thanks Jace - gota buck up my ideas and get a few more coats of wax on my motor - quite right - only get out what you put in. I thought I was doing ok [:(]- it will be three times at the end of Nov. But I must admit even though I have only waxed it twice so far each time I wash it or it rains the water runs straght off the car and thats using autoglym srp - which im about to stop using mind.[^]

yep newspaper works a treat - try it on you wet windows when you have washed the car - its better than any cloth or polish and its free.[:D]

Used to use Autoglym Polish all the time but since I tried Maguiars I would never go back. Never seen my car looking as shiney in my life.

Sorry forgot to say, Autoglym Glass cleaner followed by Rain-X is my favorate way of getting the Glass clean.
