Olla folks. is the superchips still looking like the best all round remap?

Thinking of taking car into superchips place in Glenrothes unless anyone knows either better superchips place or better remap to get full stop.

Dont care about mpg so just want the most bang for my bucks but preferably with warranty as car still only 9 weeks old although with 7500 miles on it

prices are all about the same. I think that the GB still exists for S/Chips so its ?440+VAT ish I think & Forge offer OBD tuning ( along way from you of course ) for ?450+VAT. I'll PM you the e-mail that Forge sent me today if you want.

Be careful about the most bang - go for 180 - 185 BHP range and try to keep the torque under 300 to preserve your clutch

Not wanting to sound like a walking Oettinger advert, but looking on their website they do a 170bhp mod.

Crap ! is does sound like I'm a walking Oettinger advert. Basically I think there are several chips you could choose from. If this post hangs around long enough I'm sure there are plenty of other people who will have chipped their TDI's and can give an honest opinion.

I think you'll find the Oettinger and Superchips figures practically identical.......and thats not a guess, either.

You should still get in the superchips group buy at HQ - ?450is including the dreaded

booked in this friday at scottish superchips in glenrothes unless anyone has a bad experience there

car has really loosened up last few weeks so should be rather fun once done

the oettinger was also top on the list but cant get down to get it done for weeks if not months and since there is also a warranty with superchips seems a no brainer

Foxy, you still finding your remapped tdi a joy to drive? no causes for concern?

@ SteveTDCi - I ran 155bhp stock on the Superchips rollers - just a decat and full 67mm miltek with single back box.

@ Wolfchild - The car is getting better and better by the day........I have nearly 16k on the odo now.

A big improvement came when the dealer replaced the vacuum valve control block (fancy N75 thing) - which controls the VNT blades, EGR valve, etc.

I can't really fault it - the remap is 110% worth the bangs per buck.........forget the figures, just drive it !!!!

Foxy, have you got figures before the miltek was fittted ? My TDCi was 125 on superchips (bucks) rollers with just a panel filter. With there map it went to 146. I'm guessing the standard 140 will push out closer to 150. Is the full decat system worth it ? I'm thinking of just going for the back box.

Left Scottish superchips on Friday at 4pm with a small smile on my face. Got stuck in traffic so smile faded........big S class Merc saw me behind him and floored it just at the roundabout of the A92 that goes to Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes.....he stopped smiling when i was glued firmly about 3 cars lengths from his derrier

Which was nice until today when an MR2 Turbo tried to get the drop on me in Livingston.....he had faster start coming of the roundabout about 50 yards behind me and he only sneaked past at about 80 when i had had enough ( disclaimer ) ( it said turbo on the back just in case someone starts with no chance could i of had it )

I'm rather impressed

Excellent mate !

How many miles do you have on the clock?

As I said, mine's getting quicker as the miles go on her........

@Steve - sorry chap - only have pre-Superchip map figure of 155bhp (with the decat miltek system).

Had my A3 chipped in Glenrothes a couple of months back.

Would have liked to have known the figures after for reassurance but then the car certainly drives better than when it did before It went in!

Don't fancy organising an RR session do you ??

There's always Star Performance? I know they've done rolling road days in the past for forums....

....I could make some enquiries if possible and if anyone is interested. I could open it up to a few forums if possible (tyresmoke, Audi-sport and uk-mkiv's for example)

edit: I've just noticed that a group of guys have already organised a visit to Star Performance on the 20th August if anyone is interested. No idea of costs but the date is concrete and has been booked. Don't think there are many places left (5 or so)
