As I'm a glut for punishment.... It's about time for another session in the home counties where I can assist forum members with installation of cruise control onto their Mk4 based cars (Golf/Bora/Leon/Octavia/A3/S3/TT). As anyone who attended one of the meets last year in Reading, Thatcham or Farnborough, will testify this is a great opportunity for anyone nervous to pull their car apart on their own, or if you don't have access to all of the tools at home.

I hope to get 3-5 cars together for this session, in which we should have all cars completed within 2-3 hours. I will ensure that a full set of tools is available, including VAG-COM for enabling cruise control in the engine ECU. Most of the trim removal and wiring will however be completed by YOU[:|]

CONFIRMED EVENT DETAILS:

Date: Sunday 19th June

Location: Bradley Moor Square, Thatcham, Berks RG18 4QH

Time: 9.30 am meet for 10 am start

http://www.multimap.com/clients/gif.cgi?client=yell&width=500&height=310&icon=dot&pc=RG18+4QH&scale=25000&panx=0&pany=0

If you want to participate in this session please ensure that you arrive promptly to avoid playing 'catch up' with the rest of the group

As a reminder, ALL TDI and ALL V6 Mk4 Golf based models can have cruise fitted exactly as described on Foxy's website - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dgace/cruise_control.htm .

The same is also true of later V5 (170bhp) models and I believe late 2.0 litre models (must have dbw throttle - inc EPC light on dash)

You'll only need an extra (non VW supplied) loom on 1.8T models - also check out my website for additional information, particularly if you have ESP fitted : http://www.golfmk4.co.uk/cruise_control.htm

If you missed out on Foxy's recent group buy, here's the cheapest source for both parts of the OEM VAG cruise control kit - courtesy of VAG Parts

Wiring Loom : https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.oneandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=1542957912c5549/shopdata/0080_Sat+Nav+parts+-+CD+changers+-+cruise+stalks/0090_Cruise+control+stalks/product_details.shopscript?article=0030_1J0%2BCruise%2Bpartial%2Bwiring%2B%3D281J0971425%3D29

Cruise Control Stalk : https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.oneandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=1542957912c5549/shopdata/0080_Sat+Nav+parts+-+CD+changers+-+cruise+stalks/0090_Cruise+control+stalks/product_details.shopscript?article=0020_1J0%2BCruise%2Bstalk%2B=281J095351301C=29

Both are cheaper than from your local dealer and from unscrupilous sellers on Ebay......

If you want to fit cruise to your 1.8T engined Golf/Leon/S3 etc please contact me to pre-order the special engine bay loom for these models.

I'd be interested in getting a date sorted too. Only coming from Southampton so not too far to travel for me to Thatcham.

Would you guys be willing to help out if I sourced a kit in time from elsewhere? (missed out on the GB)

I had a look at the install instructions supplied by Chris and am a bit
daunted by a) the airbag, and b) the ESP steering angle sensor

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Rally Cris,

Can you fit anyone else for this fitting service? If so count me in please and I'll order the stuff from vagparts!

Been wanting this for a while, but my DIY skills are so poor I did not want to risk it!

Thanks

Please can each of you guys send me a PM to confirm that you can make the confirmed date of Sunday 19th June, and also your model of car, Thanks.

That's 8 cars so far so I do not want to include any more unless any more drop out - however anyone else is welcome to come to watch and help out with the installations.
