Do the lights come on automatically at speed on the mk5 'GT'(I think it was 85mph)? I read this in an old Top Gear book.

If so, can these be disabled via the highline comp?

I think this only happens if you have your lights in auto mode; I thought the figure was 93 or something though.

As for disabling it, just put your headlights into manual off mode []

I assume that they only come on in auto mode as I always leave in auto position. I will try with them off tomorrow but would assume that it won't work.

But in daylight you cannot tell if the dash lights are on and signs do not reflect!

[?]The road signs depend on the how bright the sunlight is, but you must be blind if you can't see the light on the dash!

In bright sunlight it would be quite difficult to tell if your lights were on, the light from the dash would be very difficult to notice.

Also, when auto mode is s elected, the auto symbol is illuminated green when the headlights are off and goes to the normal backlight when the headlights are on.

because they ahve a blue tinge i find it no problem at all to tell,plus the little red lights above the gear stick that are about a trillion watts are easy to see
