Does anyone know if the doors on a Golf can be set to "autolock", ie, when the car reaches 5mph or what ever, they autolock.

This is a feature that the dealers can enable on TT's and common (if not standard on American cars).

Thanks !

Yep, they autolock at 10mph, and auto-unlock when the key is removed from the ignition. Great feature. I've done it for a few friends now too.

Your dealer should be able to do it, or else get someone with a VAG-COM to do it for you. Dealer shouldnt really charge you anything, its only a 5 min job.

Got my R32 but the dealer knew nowt about this auto lock feature, they told me auto lock was when the car locks its self after 30secs after being left unlocked and no key in [:(]

Does anyone know if there is a VAG-COM code for the autolock feature that I can give to the dealer, as they didn't have a clue about this

Thanks

Only on vehicles with power windows. VAG-COM fine. There are numerous options/ features that can be set.

Selective Unlocking:

[Select]

[46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)

[Recode - 07]

Write down the existing coding for future reference.

Enter 5-digit code from below

[Do It!]

Look at the existing Soft. Coding. If you have s elective unlocking (press the unlock button on the remote once to open the driver's door, twice to open all the doors) the last digit of your coding should be an even number. To make all doors unlock, add 1 to the coding.

So, if you have a 2-door 2002 GTI that is coded for s elective unlocking (00064) add one to make it 00065 so that all doors unlock with one press of the unlock button.

Lock/Unlock Horn/Flash:

[Select]

[46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)

[Adaptation - 10]

Channel (03..08)

Adaptation Value (1 = on, 0 = off)

[Save]

Channel 03 Auto Lock

Channel 04 Auto Unlock

Channel 05 Unlock, horn sounds

Channel 06 Lock, horn sounds

Channel 07 Unlock, turn signals flash

Channel 08 Lock, turn signals flash

sttu - previous car was setup to autolock after I spec'd it that way and gave them a printout from a thread on vwvortex.

current car (diff dealer, same salesman) I was asked if I wanted everything setup the same and it was done during PDI along with VSI servicing.

Go to your dealer and ask them to do it for you, if they still claim can't do just tell them to call solihul VW and ask them how they did it.

I've done this myself. It's a 30 second job with VAG-COM. You don't need any codes from VW or anything. To be honest, I got fed up with passengers (as well as me, initially) jumping out of their skins when the doors locked and turned it off again.

To be fair they called me back today & said to pop it in when I'm passing and they'll do it while I wait, they hadn't done it before & wanted to try it on one of there own cars first rather than a customers...can't knock em for that [^]

I know this is an old post but can anyone advise whereabouts in/near Milton Keynes that I can get this done cheaply or for free? I just spoke with Wayside VW in MK and they wanted ?48 to do this job!!! After reading the forums, I was shocked how much they wanted. Can anyone help please?

All I wanted to have done was to have the doors auto lock when I drive off (and unlock when I took the key out of the ignition) and have all the doors unlock with one press of the remote button.

Thanks for your help.

Try another dealer Wayside in Towcester or Autohaus in Northampton for example.

They can do it using their VAS 5051 diagnostic machine by using the Guided Functions programme within.

Also, in case people aren't aware: You can get out of the car without having to remove the key by simply pulling the relevant door handle twice. This will enable you to keep the other doors/boot locked. When you next reach 9mph it'll auto lock!!

If you don't get any luck give me a shout and I'll do it for you.

Thank you for your offer Spudley. That's very generous and kind of you. I'll give the other dealers a call tomorrow first to see what they can do. Hopefully they'll be more knowledgeable and helpful than Wayside MK. I'll let you know how I get on. Many thanks.

Frisky...
