As the title says really, the missus[] managed somehow to snap the two little plastic grommet type things that the parcel shelf straps attach to when you open the boot. Vw have quoted me ?25 notes plus the dreaded, what they say is that you need the the hole plastic piece that goes around the boot.Just wondered if anyone could confirm this for me..

Hi Guys,<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

One of my lugs was broken on the o/s when I brought my car. I went to VW and
they ordered me a complete retractable kit and wanted to charge me ?10. I reluctantly
said ok and it arrived a few days ago.<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

So I went to collect it and there was no lugs just the retractable cord
unit. I said I only want 1 lug to the guy and he took my address and said
forget the charge I?ll mail you one for free.<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

It arrived today [:D]<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

However I seem to be thick as pig sh*t because I can?t work out how to keep
it in the hole. I?m guessing the lugs peal out as there are 4 bits of plastic
that look like they would bend out to grip the inside of the hole, accept I
cant see how to remove the interior of the boot to peal them out once its put
through.<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

How does the back of the boot interior come out please? I don?t want to go
breaking any of it. Thanks<u1:p></u1:p><o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

I got my golf second hand and I found the two plastic grommet thingys in the boot as the previous owner must have already snapped them off.

I super glued them back on and that is where they have stayed quite happily since.

I'm sure you could get replacement plastic bits from skoda or seat as well as they are definitely on the octavia.

cheers,

Phil

If your car is still under warranty then you can claim this.

We see this happen all the time & have done loads or warranty claims, just depends how helpful your dealer is.
