Well it certainly isn't a GT TDI model and those seats look like a lowly S model.

It looks like someone has put a red 'DI' badge on and of course that means that the engine is more powerful - It will be interesting to see what feedback is given after that auction...

I wouldn't say the car was dodgy at all. Looks like a 130/115 pd s/se.

The ad, on the other hand, is full of mistakes.

I love the way Corkhills VW managed to change the spark plugs on a diesel???

6th gear has dissapeared somwhere too??

Santas were only available on 'SE' models and above combined with sports suspension IIRC. - An expensive option at the time. This is neither an SE nor has sports suspension!

My guess is this car is a PD 100, TDI90 or even SDI 'S' model, that received a badge and some wheels of (perhaps)questionable origin. Sad really, some poor sod is gonna get taken for a ride.

I just sent the seller the following "question"

hi there

if you want to keep your good feedback I would withdraw this car from auction right now. its clearly not a 130bhp model, it is the 90bhp version. I know this because of the following factors:

- the seats are the bottom of the range, never fitted to 130bhp model

- it has black bumper strips and door handles, 130 bhp models were ALL colour coded

- the suspension is too high

- it only has 5 gears (all 130bhp models have 6 gears)

I'd also like to point out a few inaccuracies in your listing:

- haldex filter is only fitted to 4 wheel drive models!

- diesel cars don't have spark plugs

Just to let you know, the Golf Mk4 owners club is watching this auction and will be contacting the highest bidder to warn them off bidding

I thank you

[:D]

will let you know if I get a response, I won't be holding my breath!

Thats why it's dodgy!! 130's (and 115's) were only ever made in GT spec (in the hatchback anyway).

It looks to me like a pd100 S- everything fits, the TDI badge is what came on PD100 before the 2003 model year (summer 2002), it doesn't have rear headrests, or sports seats or wheel, and has the standard rear lenses.

Either they know sod-all about cars, or they are trying to con people. Either way, they seem to be a company that sells a few cars on ebay so it is very worrying.

Had a reply from the seller! He says he's altered the description, but, look what he's put - it's STILL not right!

"Sorry for any confusion but this Tdi Golf is a 2002 model not 1995 as misdiscribed. A few other pointers are that it is stated as a 130 bhp model due to much confusion on Vw's end after telling me this, we have since found out that it is actualy a 115 bhp model.

The confusion has arrisen due to the fact Vw produced a 115 bhp model with the same red DI as the 130 bhp models. They made the 115 bhp in 5/6 speed and all 130 bhp models were 6 speed the 110 bhp had a red I and the 90 bhp model was a silver TDI. All very complicated what chance do we have of getting it write if even Vw get it wrong! Once again sorry for any confusion, and yes it is impeccable and apart from the above exactly as described.

Regards Benjamin Hayes"

Still think hes not got it right, no way that is a 115bhp as like most of you have said, it only comes in GT TDI and 6 gears, unless it came in as an import of course then Im not sure. Think golfv64mo has got it right though. Certainly looks like an S to me and at best a 100 PD.

PS the oter giveaway is he has no front armrest if im not mistaken.

From my understanding and info I was given when looking for my golf, it is possible that the car should have a red d and i as I did see a couple and yes I believe they are 115bhp - apparently the red d and i also signifies that the car has the PUMP Duse engine. then again I could have been misinformed. I've now had a look on Parkers website and I can see that the only model that matches that spec and age is:

1.9 S TDI (100ps) 5d 2002/02

Insurance Group 8

Average mileage: 20,000 miles

Cost New ('02) ? 14200

Franchised Dealer ? 9705

Independent Dealer ? 9210

Private Good ? 8635

Private Poor ? 7075

Part Exchange ? 7730

So I reckon someone's going to be paying well over the odds at nearly 60k on the clock and bids up to ?7300!!
