Evening,

I have a new set of anni sill protectors that I plan to fir to my mkiv gti. I have just had a quick look and there appears to be a bit more work than I originally anticipated. I need a bit of help on the following points:

1. Will the standard (plain black) sill protectors simply peel off (after applying a bit of heat)?

2. It looks like I need to take the door gasket/seal off to fit the strips. How do I do this? I assume I need to take the bit of black plastic trim off first??? (see pic below)

Cheers!!

P.S. Sorry about the state of my interior! [:$] It will be getting a much needed hoover this weekend!

Did this a couple of weeks ago, I chose to stick them on top of the original ones. I pulled up the rubber seal after unclipping the inner plastic trim and the rubber grommet from the door locator. I then made sure the sill was absolutely clean before sticking them down and used a wallpaper roller I had to ensure they were stuck down fully

Plastic easy to remove.

Get a hair dryer and put on hottest setting and start heating from one
end. use your fingernail to easy the end up and 'gradually' peel away
moving the hairdryer down as you go.

you won't get the plastic back on so dont worry about screwing it up, bin it afterwards.

dont worry too much about it pulling paint of either, as i was worried too, it shouldn't pull anything off.

Here's a pic of my stainless steel covers.

about 300k each so link only.

I see that the plasic trims go up and underneath the door seal and internal panel.
Did you remove the panel to get to all the plastic?

Id like to fit my Anniversary Sills as they were meant to be.

No didn't need to remove the door seal. the plastic only just goes
underneath it (maybe by 5mm) so when you pull on it, it comes away
easily in one long piece of 'sticky tape'.

it was more difficult fitting the new ones rather than taking the old
off, only because it takes more time to accuratley place them.

IMO if you leave it on and then place new ones on top, you can still see the old stuff.

gary remember that they only do them in 3 door.

so like me you will need to trim them to fit.

no problem though, just us a sharp pair of scisors

and use the old ones as a template to get the corners rounded properly.
