Which one of you chaps was it I was following down the A15 (Caenby Corner) last week? It was a black petrol Anniversary 180 (although it had Revo stickers in the rear 1/4 windows). We were having a little friendly blast until he started getting a little to OTT for my liking. Would of liked a good old long blast to compare really, as I want to see how a Revo'd Golf compares to mine, but he turned off unfortunatly [:(].

Never mind, i'll keep my eye out, as I drive that road most days of the week.

Was it any of you guys on here? It was an 02 plate by the way..

I also had a friendly race on Friday on the a40 chelt toward m40 for 20 miles, with dual carrage ways and the odd overtaking other car manovers! I haven't got a 180, only an AUM 150 gti , but its been revo'd, no Milltek as yet (see other thread) but i kept on pulling away , then as it went to two lanes approaching lights we spoke and he said, ok what have you done to that car?? and I said it's been remapped, to that he went oh!. Nice guy! probably wasn't pushing his car though as it does help when you know the road like te back of your hand!

No mate, standard. Thought about maybe an exhaust, but never really bothered, as I do alot of miles and I don't know if I could put up with the noise 24/7. But I haven't ruled it out just yet. [^]

Oh she's clocked over 88,000 miles now. So she's just about run in i'd say! [;)]

There's nothing like a little friendly rivalry!!

No I havent had chance to run a 1/4 mile yet, Im always set for going then end up working, typical eh??

BTW I am in no way dissing the CTR, I love them and would like the chance to test drive one knowing that they are a very capable car.

No offence taken mate. If your's is kicking out 240+ bhp, then i'd expect a bloody good blast on my hands to be honest. But it was the joker who come out with this comment that made me laugh...

"My old Anni 1.8T APR chipped car would WHIP CTR's everyday of the week

There's just no contest

APR Anni had approx 210+bhp, 220lbs,

But hey that's totally off topic".

Me thinks he hasn't come across a CTR with a decent driver in myself..

Oh by the way chaps. If any of you guys fancy a get together (shootout) at Santa Pod or something, I know there's plenty of guys on the CTR site that would be more than up for it? We had one recently against the chaps from SeatCupra.net (CTR v's LCR day) and it was a spot on day. Plenty of friendly banter and plenty of duals of course [;)]. (Oh and we won, LOL [:D]) Give us the nod if any of you boys are up for it, and we'll get it organised.

Hello, Joker Here...

Sorry to burst your bubble my friend. I've driven CTR's on many occasions,

The first few times we borrowed our friends one, my friend would drive my Anni (APR) and I'd be driving the CTR. The Anni would simply pull out away in a straight line.

Recently we did the same thing again but this time against our R32's, and again the CTR would lose out.

I can honestly say I've flogged the nuts off of the Vtec, and yeah it makes you feel well good venturing into 9k, but let's face it, there are faster cars out there.

I've always had much respect for CTR's cause they are so focussed, and I do like to take them out for a blast now and again, so don't take the above facts the wrong way.

Welcome to the forum by the way [:D]

I seriously considered a CTR before I realised I could afford an R32.

Test drove one on a long run.

Found the handling very good indeed as were the brakes but wasn't keen on the steering - Too light.

Fantastic gearbox (better than the Golf I reckon) but the engine was just too revvy for me and felt sluggish below 5k revs. After that it flies but you have to be in the mood.

Slightly strange design flaw - The seat belts rub away the seats!

Interior overall is a bit dodgy but the seats are pretty comfy.

Like them but obviously like the R32 more![^]

Vtec.

Add:

First mod should be a Gruppe M intake ?550 releases 12ps and 8 lb/ft followed by a good catback (?300 - ?500) and also the Hondata K Pro ECU (?650)

That lot should see you into the realm of between 220 - 225 Bhp

http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/phpbb2/index.php

And a REVO'd Anni might ask you what you got.(Of course theirs cost a third of this work, but they don't know that).
