Amplifing front speakers

I'm looking to buy aftermarket speakers and amplifier for the front of my golf after christmas and just wondered how many channels will I need and what sort of power should I be looking for the tweeters and mid range apeakers.

I think I'm right in saying that a 2 channel amp would do all four but would it be better if all speakers had their own channel?

thanks

thats a good guide but I'm still confused on the 2/4 channel business. So a 2 channel will power 1 pair of speakers, so does a pair consist only of 2 mid/bass speakers in the doors or does it also include the tweeters?
A two channel amp will drive four speakers but you won't have front/rear fade.A pair of speakers in this case could be two coaxials (twteeters built in) or a pair of midbass + tweeters + crossovers.

If you read the guides thoroughly it's all explained in great detail, but you really don't need amped and uprated rear speakers. If you've set yourself a particular budget then put more towards the front end of the car and the sub if you're thinking of getting one.

Either a two channel for the front and a monoblock for the sub,or a powerful four channel for the fronts AND the sub.

Chris.
What headunit do you have?

How much is your budget? (is there any flex in it?)

And what kind of music do you listen too?
check out my vibe amp fitted into the glovebox. It feeds some Focal component speakers in the front doors. The sound is fantastic you would think I had a sub[funky]
