Just installing the drivers side alu finger plate and I think I'm missing something... see pic below:

I don't seem to have the alu equivalent of the walnut piece in the pic above. Do I have to purchase this seperately or has it been missed out of my order?

Its black plastic and is a seperate item to the finger plate.

Oh and BTW did you ever get the BBS removal tool, I seem to have one locked on!

I have just pulled my piece off for you and the part number is 3B0 867 175 A.

Yes I did get the BBS removal tool which cost around ?11ish delivered from Vagparts, I'll get a number for that tomorrow for you as the car is in the garage so I cant open the boot at the moment.

Hey Giddy thanks so much for bringing this up now and thanks too to Gary for the part number. I have an alu kit in the UK waiting to be shipped out here and I looked at my door yesterday and wondered about that part - I take it that it fits indside the cutout on the finger plate??

I'll get Vagparts to supply one before all the other bits leave the UK.

Yeah it just unclips when you pull it towards the door, you can then lift the plate from the front and it comes away. Don't pull too hard as the switch mechanism needs unpluging before you can fully remove it.

Vagparts sent all my kit to my parents, who live in the UK, and they are due to send it out to me together with some other bits and bobs. A couple of days ago Mum was on about some additional piece of black plastic that was not listed on the invoice being in the box and she had no idea what it was. Of course I now realise that it is the same bit that you guys are missing and I thought I would have to buy separately.[:I]

Does it not come as standard with the driver's finger plate? I did not ask specifically for it but it turned up along with everything else in a separate bag. Certainly ought to come with the finger plate IMO.

For anyone else ordering alu trim, thought you might like to know the following.

Spoke to VAGparts this morning. Even though that part is a separate item, they normally supply it free of charge with the finger plate.

Don't know the exact cost but Vagparts say they're cheap. Even VW can't charge that much for a small piece of plain plastic like that.
